Sportscenter showed highlights from an automated "NHL 2K5" game. It was just as interesting--they should show whole games. They can just automate the whole season, and maybe the players and owners can come to an agreement by the playoffs.

I heard that if the players and owners don't come to a decision by next season they are going to use substitute players the following season. I don't really believe this, i mean it would be like watching IHL games or something.

The owners have saved a couple years worth of money for this and claim they make more by not playing than playing, many of the players are playing in Europe now, So who gets hurt the fan, stupid buisness. I dont expect there to be hockey for a while, however its a good time to check out your local IHL or UHL teams. That is if you have them

Greed and a lack of decency in pro sports? How is that news?

I don't expect we'll see NHL hockey this season, though I'm hopeful that some kind of a settlement will be reached by Janurary.

Of COURSE there's hockey! The AHL, the minor league, will be in full swing this season, and sometimes I like those games better anyway. Smaller arenas, more goon-age. Of course, the downside is that since I live near the nation's Crapital, I will have to drive to Hershey to get a hockey fix, since that's the nearest AHL team - but if you are a true fan like me, you can always find hockey.

I think that's about all that can be said about the current situation.

That sucks. I need to see a hockey season bad. I don't understand how there could have been such losses in money last season, not that has anything really to do with the lack of a season, but it's a sidenote. Hockey is hands down the most exciting sport we have to watch, and for some unthinkable reason by me people aren't as interested in it as I think they should be. Whatever, they better televise all of the minor league games.

It's going to be gone for an entire season. I'm really mad that there isn't more hockey in the Nashville area now that the NHL is locked out. I grew up about 20 minutes from an AHL and UHL team.

What really sucks is that the NHL was finally gaining a broader traction in the South with Tampa winning the Cup and other teams, like the Preds, making there first apperance in the playoffs. They've made their job twice as hard by killing what momentum they had.

New League needed

I think there should be a new NHL league started.
4 on 4 only. New streamlined rules. New pay structure.
May be the only way to properly fix things.
