Japanese Baseball
 

I don't have any way to watch Japanese baseball, but I have seen some clips and I vaguely remember instances where the pitcher will purposefully bounce the ball on the way to the plate as another way to pitch. Does this actually happen in Japanese baseball? Am I tripping? What else is different?

I've watched a lot of Japanese baseball and there's nothing like that. The rules are essentially the same.

I've heard that the strike zone is slightly larger and the balls are slightly smaller. Games are allowed to end in a tie after a certain number of extra innings.

The main differences seem to be cosmetic. For example, fans of each team are segregated and never sit together. Relief pitchers are sometimes driven to the pitcher's mound in golf carts with flashing lights. In the past, if you caught a foul ball, the stadium people would come over and ask for it back.

There's a limit on non-Japanese players on each team. The Japanese don't want such players beating Japanese records, and towards the end of the season, if a foreigner is about to beat a Japanese hit or home run record, he will get walked every time.
