Shaq to Heat???
So whats your take on this..
Supposedly a deal is in the works to send Brian Grant, Lamar Odom, and two Future First Round Picks for Shaq I have mixed feelings about this. I love having Lamar Odom, and would be disappointed to see him leave, but Shaq... the most dominating player in the NBA, thats very tempting. Even if it is for only 3 or 4 years tops.. What do you guys think??? |

Doesn't make sense for either side, imo. Heat would be throwing away an up-and-coming young core to rent a big man for a few years, while LA would be fucked, especially if Kobe signed elsewhere. I wonder if Shaq would really sit out if LA doesn't trade him. That would confirm my hatred of his attitude. He's good, but he's not a nessecity to win the championship. Just ask the Pistons.

I would do that proposed deal in the first post for BOTH teams. LA gets two good players to compliment Kobe, plus the picks to draft or trade for more talent. Miami gets a still-dominent big man that would destroy anyone in the East.
If this deal went down, Miami is in the conference finals next year guarenteed.

Odom is taleneted, but who knows what affect going back to L.A. would have on him. Though his problems were with the Clipper's management, he would still be in the same city and arena.
Odom, Grant, and picks would be a good deal for the Heat. Possible offers from other teams that are rumored just seem better for the Lakers. Personally though, I think a deal like this is about fair considering contracts/age/talent. |

If this deal goes down, the NBA will get a lot more interesting.
Orlando, and Miami would become possible major contenders, while Houston might have put themselves over the top into the upper echelon of teams. And Vince Carter is still supposed to be moved too, still a few big name free agents, and Iverson could possibly be traded after the next big deal happens. With all this talent moving, the balance of power may finally start swaying back to the middle.

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Shaq is mentally not the same player he was 2 years ago... I think ANYONE that wants him should hol dout, cos he is not worth what the Lakers want for him.
He has the potential to still be the big man in the NBA, but he needs to get his mind right, and right now it isnt.

If this trade does go down, Shaq won't have to bang his body playing with the big centers in the west as much. That might even give him a couple more years back.
At least the Lakers are getting some good young talent. Butler is a great young talent and Grant isn't as trigger happy as Medvedenko. |

Wait, wait, wait, you have Odom, Butler and Grant and would trade for Dirk?
I'd make that deal anyday of the week too. That would be grand larceny.

Everyone knew the Lakers would get screwed if they tried to offload Shaq, I think that this is a decent deal, compared to the garbage that the Mavs were offering.
