Soccer, or football for the non-US'ers

Am I the only one who watches soccer only when the games are played by the national squads? For example, the US vs. Mexico game on Thurs. I just can't get into any of the other matches (MLS, etc...).

I hated the fact that I had to stay up to some ungodly hours to watch the World Cup over the summer, but enjoyed them nonetheless. Maybe if any of my friends enjoyed watching soccer I'd watch it more, but as it is I'd rather just play it instead.

The problem is that I already have enough sports on while the MSL is going on and the WC or international matches are about the only thing that can get me to watch.

It is not that it is boring or what not because I can watch baseball. It is just a lack of being any meaning to the MSL to me. I would much rather watch the Premier League than MSL.

The MSL is crap. Watch some real football like La Liga, The Premier League or Serie A.
ffs they didnt even have draws in the msl because fans didnt like games ending in a tie. That's not real football.

The Premier League is definately the best around. The MSL better take lessons or the league will dissolve quickly. Soccer is still growing in the US but if it's to get the attention that is desired they need to change a few things.

Soccer will never make it in the US like it does anywhere else...not ever 50%.

The reason is as stated above is that the US has enough sport leagues so that one more does not mean that much.

England, Spain, Italy what leagues do thaty have besides soccer and maybe a basketball league? Do they have hockey or American Football? Soccer will lucky to become 4th most popular here. It might pass hockey one day but that is doubtful because hockey really is loved by lots of people.

Never had watched a game of soccer before I moved to Europe, now I can't get enough of it. I think that it will always grow in popularity in the US as the number of Latin Americans continues to grow. Sure we have baseball and football and all that, but I have seen people grow increasingly disenchanted with these sports. Basketball is top right now because of very clever marketing over the last 10 years, and they have been scared for a long time without a true drawing card like Jordan. Anything can happen I suppose.

On a related note, I don't necessarily agree that the English Premier league is the best in the world. They play a different brand of football. The Spanish like to play open field and have a finesse game, the Italians are far more defensive while the English play a physical longball game similar to what the Germans play nowadays. Seems that at least in the past 2 years when these styles clash that the Spanish and Italians come away better than the English....
