nba: mcgrady to rockets
any nba fans here ?
what do you all think about this trade, i mean damn! i seem to agree with most people that the magic got the raw end of the stick here, i mean, t-mac and ming now not a bad combination in a few years time i think!!! crazy! www.nba.com/rockets |
Francis, Mobley, Howard, and Nelson. That's a hell of a talent pool to build around in Orlando. I wouldn't say that got a raw deal; that's probably the best deal ever pulled off by a team in their situation.

I don't like the fact that Orlando didn't draft Okafor, but they redeemed themselves by getting Nelson and this trade.
I say Houston got the raw deal. I mean they did get McGrady, but they also got a declining veteran with a huge contract and a mediocre point guard. |
I think the Trade will definetly make Orlando better, it will let them play more as a team than a one man show.
As for the Rockets I don't know. Is T-Mac a Van Gundy type Player? It will be interesting. The "southwest" Division is going to be tough for the rockets, its full of good pointgaurds(Parker, Jason Williams, Baron Davis, and maybe Nash) and the rockets just gave theirs away. |
They'll sign Derek Fisher and be ready to go.

Ok time to play devils advocate. Mcgrady is a ball hog and over rated. He does not make the players around him better and is a poor defender. I think the magic got a steal here.

He's never had a chance to. He's done nothing but play on a poor team since he came into the NBA.

I think it is a good deal for both teams.
Mobely, Franics, and Kato all have substantial contracts if I am not mistaken. Obviously, McGrady and Howard have big contracts too. Howard is not over the hill, just carries the tag of never winning, like Abdur-Rahim. I liked Houston's defensive backcourt in Mobely and Francis. However, I think Mobley shoots too many threes and doens't utilize his efficent post game. Franics gives you everything across the board, and unfortunately that includes a low 40 field goal percentage and a lot of turnovers. At times, he seemed unable to get Ming or Taylor the ball when they were scoringl in the post. McGrady is the cream of the crop, his game speaks for itself. Fisher, if signed, will give you pesky on the ball D and will open it up with his perimeter shooting. Lue is a very solid backup, which is the role best suited for him. Franics, Mobley, and Cato will be able to bring a lot of energy and prowess on both sides of the ball. Obviously they have their flaws respectively, but they will bring wins for sure. |
I think that, if the Magic sign anyone with size, and get any kind of contribution out of Nelson, Howard, or Grant Hill, they will be in the playoffs this year.

i dont think the 3 guys francis mobley and cato will stay together during the off season
they didnt play well together when they were in houston and i dont think they will in orlando i reckon one of them will disappear sometime during the off season |
big problem with moving chunks of one team with eachother is if they didn't work well on one team, they probably wont work well on another.

I think Orlando got robbed.
Steve Francis was the franchise in his hey day, but in the past 2 seasons he had problems with migraines and hardly played. I understand that Orlando wants to rebuild, but how can they if theyre rebuilding with broken players? its going to be a while before orlando becomes a dominant force in the east. |
