Congrats Pistons and Pistons fans. Better team won.
For the Lakers, the season is now a failure. That's the way it goes. I'm telling you it hurts big time. But, life goes on...time to focus all attention to baseball

As a Laker fan, Im both shocked and dismayed by the total meltdown they had in the finals. Props to the Pistons though, they earned their championship.
I've always said that defense wins championships. The Pistons proved that true yet again.

oh well.. i look forward to a fresh team next year. Buss won't let the team slump, even during a rebuilding period.

The only thing that sucked about game five was how the Pistons let the lakers get about 15 unanswered points in the last 2 minutes. It woulda been great if they had won by 28 or 30 points.
I must say though Great job PISTONS!!!!!!!!! I will now look through the stores for my official " I jumped on the Pistons Bandwagon" T- Shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shaq being humble in defeat?? What is this world coming to? I can't stand him but his stock actually went up a bit in my book with the way he handled himself during interviews after the thumping they received. I think the Lakers are done as we know them. BIG BIG changes in store next year. Hang in there Big Aristotle, I'm sure you'll be kept around.

i'm reading articles and I can't help but notice that the Pistons winning is just an afterthought to the media. Nobody gives a shit. Heh. EVERYBODY wants to know what's going on with the Lakers.
Imagine that.

Chauncey Billups: 42 free throws on 57 shot attempts
Next you're gonna tell me that he's been that efficient at drawing fouls all year. Pistons fans are taking this win and running with it, not looking back to even consider that maybe... just maybe... something is up. Ignore your previous fears that the Lakers were gonna gallup all over Detroit - those predictions must have meant absolutely nothing, right?

Man,
The Lakers got spanked, plain and simple. Whenever your fav team gets spanked like that, it's somewhat natural to come up with some excuses and try to point blame elsewhere. But the fact remains the same. Right now, at this moment in time, The Pistons are better than The Lakers. By a significant margin. And that is why they were able to spank them until their buttcheeks turned red. Blaming the refs? That never works. Not in any sport. Refs always get the blame, but they are the refs and we are not. Blaming the refs does not make The Lakers better than the Pistons. The Lakers had no cohesive teamwork in this series.

The Lakers have won the title 9 times as the LA Lakers, not to mention another 5 times as the Minneapolis Lakers. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and we'll just allow the 9 times the Lakers have been the world champs. Now if you subtract the 3 times that the Pissstons have been champs, that leaves six. Now, if by some stretch they win the next 6 consecutive years, that would be the year 2010. I will make one guarantee, in my lifetime, the Lakers will always have more championships than the Pisssstons.

The Pistons didn't play Haq-a-Shaq, and that is where the majority of the Lakers foul advantage has come from for the past several years. The Lakers may have played hard through the playoffs, but they definitely were coasting on their reputations in the finals. They should be ashamed of their play, and their whining. (Derek Fisher was great on TV post-game. He impressed me with his comments and composure. Very classy)

Go Pistons! Its nice to see that professionals can play as a team. The Laker myth is shattered.

Also, this is another shot at the supposed selfishness of the Lakers, a team that was 4th in the league in assists per game.

But let it be remembered that in '04 Finals, they embarrassed themselves and got spanked -- hard. I hope the Lakers get some things figured out in the off-season and return a better team next season, as I like the Lakers and was pulling for them to do well in the playoffs before they got to the Finals. |

"Better team won" You shouldn't be surprised at the shock and borderline denial all us Lakers fans are going through. All indications before the finals started pointed to a Lakers victory. This is one of the bigger upsets in Finals history. The fact that the Lakers didn't win makes us very bitter.

Lakers played like a sorry group of punk bitches all playoffs and were lucky to reach the finals... this obviously showed in how bad Detriot spanked them.
I would like to apologize to Detriot, although I respected them as one of two decent teams from the East, I never in a million years would've expected this... Good job boys well earned.

What a beautiful series. There was nothing better than seeing those Laker bums on the bench dejected. I'm so happy Malone and Payton will never get the brass! Sorry Phil your not going to beat Red this year! Who knows, if Kobe didn't rape that girl, maybe they would have been more of a TEAM. HA HA HA F the Lakers!

The funniest thing said about the playoffs was on The best Damn Sports show. One of the guys said " Don't worry Lakers, you will get them in Game 6!"
I thought that said it all. Even though most people in Detroit knew they were gonna be champions after game 4 was over, and most of the Nation knew by the mid point of the 3rd quarter of game 5 it was over. The Lakers fans and the media just didn't wan't to admit that something like this was happining to their beloved Lakers. So, go on lakers , whip the Pistons in game 6.

The Lakers got humiliated and beaten fairly by the better team, the black and white striped team! No just kidding! The Pistons kicked our ass all over the court. They should be proud of their accomplishment. Hell, I think the Spurs would've given them better competition! There, now I said it!
