Favourite Soccer team

Not much talk about the world's most popular sport in this forum. I am just interested to see what are people's favourite soccer team from around the globe.

I'll start with mine - a local team, even though they are only second division in the English league. Brentford.

Ace_O_Spades 05-28-2004 01:51 PM

All I know about soccer I learned from Fifa 2004...

So my favorite team is Manchester United... simply for the reason it's the first team I picked, becasue it was one of the only ones I knew when i rented the game... and I am undefeated playing with them.

I know it's a bit superficial... but what can I say... I don't get much exposure way out here in western canada

limey 05-28-2004 02:05 PM

True, soccer doesn't have great exposure in North America but BC has some of the best soccer in Canada. Can't go wrong with Manchester United.

Ace_O_Spades 05-28-2004 02:15 PM

I've watched a few Vancouver White Caps games, they are decent.

Spartak 05-28-2004 02:49 PM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARSEEEEENAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!

present_future 05-28-2004 10:29 PM

I agree with Spartak, though I don't know much about european football, I am rather partial to Arsenal.

Lunchbox7 05-29-2004 12:16 AM

Liverpool. "You will never walk alone". When I first got into soccer they won one of the big tropheys ( I was like 6 at the time) so I thought cool I will go for them. Then as I grew older and leanrt more about the world I like what they stood for. Liverpool is a poor part of england and yet their representative football team is consistently at the top of the english premier league. They are the working mans heros. I like that

Jesus Malverde 05-29-2004 12:35 AM

My favorite soccer team is Mexican, the Tigres UANL. They play in the CONCACAF, and are one of the only teams I follow.

bundy 05-29-2004 02:21 AM

i've been a Liverpool fan for ages.

limey 05-29-2004 09:56 AM

Great avatar bundy.

minusthesoul 05-30-2004 09:36 AM

Liverpool. And I always have to root for Michael Owen

BadForm 05-30-2004 01:46 PM

I'll only watch and follow the US National team. Not sure why I can't get into the MLS or EPL since I do like watching soccer. I guess I just don't know enough about the teams or players to care much about the outcome of the game. I can put most any baseball, basketball, or football game on and watch it becuase I almost care about the outcome (especially how it effects a team I really care about).

omid 05-30-2004 01:52 PM

Iran

Blumpkin 06-01-2004 12:58 PM

Serie A fan here. (My Italian blood coming to the surface.)

Juventus is my team.
I only wish I had a better way to follow them than this here inter-web thingy.

heccubusiv 06-01-2004 02:10 PM

Real Madrid and Bryon Munich

I'm Liverpool thru and thru. I was born, raised and still live in Liverpool. Don't even ask me about the shite that attempt to play football less than a mile from the hallowed turf.

And for the record, I hope your comment about Liverpool being a poor part of England is based on the fact that you live somewhere other than England (am I right?) If that's the case I'll let it slide on this occassion. We used to be an extremely poor region, but that was years ago. Liverpool is doing very well for itself at the moment

Anyway back to the football. With a managerial change, it looks like Liverpool have a very interesting season coming up. Watch this space.

cameroncrazy822 06-02-2004 07:10 AM

It's DC United. C'mon everyone, we have to support the home grown product!

kurty[B] 06-02-2004 01:00 PM

AC Milan and Peņarol are my favorite teams. I actually got to watch Peņarol play in Uruguay when I was down there visiting family!!!

Man. U!

degrawj 06-03-2004 12:48 PM

mine used to be Manchester United, back when Becks was with them. now i don't really have much of a favourite. I still like Man. U, but Arsenal and Blackburn are pretty sweet too.

Thierry Henry is God,
anyone that has played the recent Winning Eleven games should know

Yet my favorite club still reigns as AC Milan, I miss the days of George Weah...

Newcastle United. This could be the season we complete an historic quadruple.

matteo101 06-11-2004 04:40 AM

In Canada (atleast western) soccer is not big atall. I have to say that the only full 90 minute soccer game I have watched was under 19 womens semifinal Canada vs Brazil where Canada won in a shootout. And the Gold medal game (in Edmonton) where Canada lost to the USA in OT. I have actually watched afew more games this year too. Only beacuse they are Canadian, and actually a competitive soccer team. So I guess I will say the Canadian under 19 womens team.

KellyC 06-13-2004 12:33 AM

Brazil man. NO 1 can beat Brazil in soccer. U guys where missunderstood team and club. those team u guys talk about are club. My favorite club will be Liverpool FC.

Porkchop 06-13-2004 04:03 AM

Me too jwoody. Has to be the toon. Newcastle United. God knows why eh. They have to win something sooner or later.

I really think that next season could be both Sir Bobby's and Auntie Sharer's last chance at getting Newcastle some silverware. You also need to win some games away from home, right?

Best of luck, we'll be hard on your heels I'm sure. (won't we Sr. Benitez?)

Casus Belli 06-16-2004 04:40 AM

Willem II, our local club.
As for international: i like Arsenal, but that's mostly because of Dennis Bergkamp. Absolute. Hero.

bluearmy 06-27-2004 04:39 PM

Has to be the mighty Chester City promoted as Champions to the football league this season. That being four-years after dropping out of the league due an American called Terry Smith who on buying the club appointed himself manager and made us a laughing stock in the proccess. Still back where we belong now.

highthief 06-27-2004 04:48 PM

Liverpool for me. And some sentimental feelings for Tranmere.

echo5delta 07-07-2004 10:33 PM

Ah, yes. Liverpool supporters will "Never Walk alone", because there are always going to be seven or eight other sides and all their supporters struggling through mid-table mediocrity for all eternity. (ha. ha?)

Also, do you know what happened when my father was 8 years old?

Tottenham won the league!

Don't get me started on Man Ushited, because then I'll really get to talkin' some smack. Seriously. Hate the bastards.

For those of you who haven't guessed yet, I'll give another big hint who I support:

Grudgingly Arsenal. When Vialli took over Chelsea i stopped liking them, so i had to choose another. Im not a gunner in my soul, but really like to watch Kanu (who i think they are dumping) and Henry.

Norwich City

And yes, I go, and used to have a season ticket before the ground rebuild last season.

This thread makes me sad!
