Dodgers. Best record in baseball.
What do you say to THAT?
Would it be too greedy to ask for last year's pitching to go with this year's offense and chemistry? Perhaps, but I'll take a slightly higher ERA with actually being able to score more than 3 runs a game. Adrian Beltre? He was the absolute last pick in th TFP fantasy league draft... by me. Look at him now - the best player in baseball and he's been doing it with a bum ankle. Paul Lo Duca? 2 strikeouts all year. He has swung and missed at a pitch a grand total of 12 times. ALSO on my fantasy team. Bench players? Jim Tracy has a strange way of managing his lineups, but it seems that when he gives a bench player a nod into the game, they come up big. I'm so happy. |
Congrats to your beloved Dodgers. They beat up on Wood last night and I'll be the first to admit that if a Cub starter can't at least take it to the 8th inning, there is going to be trouble. I'm going tonight to see if Clement can calm down those Dodger bats. Sorry-I'm a die hard Cub fan living here in LA LA land.

Yea, this year has been quite the opposit of last year when it comes to players.
I have players on my team I would have never dreamt to play as good as they are. Podsodenick 18 stolen bases already? Even with some crap players Im still 1st place in the TFP league go figure. Also with LA I really like Ordalis Perez this year. I think he is a quality pitcher who has a chance this year to make a name for himself If he can stay on the ball. |
I think Kaz Ishii is set for a better year than Odalis Perez... Odalis had his great season last year. Kaz has all ready had one amazing performance.. I think he can do it again.
Don't even get me started on Wilson Alvarez... I was amazed he wasn't a starter to begin the season. That man can pitch like he used to in the old days. Good luck tonight, Wilson! |

Only cause my Angels lost a rain delayed game yesterday in the 11th inning :p
It's great tho that they're doing great. Nice to see that they've made Kevin Towers of the Padres eat crow. |
IMO, the Dodgers have been good, but they been a lot luckier this year than good (kind of like the Giants last year). Their runs scored is 159 vs 131 runs allowed. Their expected W-L should be 19-13. Still a nice record. They're also 10-0 in one run games. Most really good teams still can't expect to be much better than to win 60% of the 1 run games.
However, with the NL West the way it is, they could win the division. |
helloooooo kutulu... their 1-run game record is becuase of none other than ERIC-FUCKIN-GAGNE! Cy Young winner. That's not luck.. that's dominating pitching.
Don't be demeaning the achievement of the Dodgers in the NL West.. the Padres are right on their tail, with a dominating closer of their own. I've been watching the Dodgers almost every game this season.. they have the best defense to prevent runs and their new hitting coach has done wonders for their bats. No flukes! |
10-0 in 1 run games IS a fluke and it's not just because of Gagne. There's still 8 innings before they can get the ball to him.
Last season, only 1 team had a W-L record better than .620, SF at 28-12. They were also a lucky team. Besides Prior should have had the Cy last year but that's a totally different thread... Beltre (career OBP .323) and Cora (career OBP .304) are also playing way over their heads. People don't go from years of mediocrity to superstars overnight. They may even have a career year but I'd be surprised if either hit over .310/.360/.500 for the whole year. Lo Duca is playing way over his head too. They still might win with the weak division though. |
Gagne for President! I dont follow the scoreboards that closely but it seems like they are kicking some serious ass so far this year! Go Blue!
|
Could be worse, they could be the Red Sox.
At least the Dodgers have hope and a chance in winning a world series something that the Red Sox will never have. So there is always a brighter side. The Dodgers do have some decent talent. |
Why is it when a team is good someone says they're lucky?
