Ken Dorsey in as 49ers new starting QB
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1797528
wow... this could get interesting, I think that Dorsey is going to do alot with this opportunity. A lot of people think he was overrated in college, but i think that he was a great passer. Now that he's bulked up, I think he will be successful in the NFL what do you guys think? |

Kerry Collins
Seriously, if the back up is injured, you CANNOT start the season without a QB who has thrown a pass in the NFL... I dont think Collins would suit SF completely, although if they could have kept TO he might have, but they need someone with some experience, even if its just to get them through this season, I think Warner is a done deal elsewhere and of the likely candidates I would pick Kerry Collins...

Hey, you gotta start somewhere. Every Quarterback comes into the league never throwing a single pass, so why the hell not this one.
The reason why i think Dorsey will be there starter AT LEAST for week 1 is that he knows the system already and I have heard a lot of praised about him from Coach Erickson. They have said that his passes have a lot more zip to them and he is very accurate (they were saying this last year). Mind you, they will definitly pick up a veteran, I find it hard to imagine that they will start a guy they pick up right now over someone in there system; Its just logical. PLUS this is a rebuilding year in SF and what a perfect time to see what you have right now, a great opportunity to see what they have. We'll see how it all pans out Last edited by SAM821; 05-08-2004 at 12:49 PM.. |

Please do not knock Blake, he has been a solid performer in every setting and has always got bumped out for one reason or another, the guy is not that bad and despite a slightly high age he does not have a ton of miles on his arm or legs, he plays a year then sits a year then gets cut so only played about half the time he has been in the league. Being a niners fan this Rattay news hurts bad REALLY bad, I do not want Warner, I would not mind Collins but Blake excites me, he said one time everywhere I go i MAKE a star WR and look at his track record with all his teams he can back this up pretty much. Gimme Blake with Lloyd and Woods and we will see what happens.

This thread is misleading... all it says is that Dorsey will be taking reps as the #1 QB in practice for now, and that Rattay will be back in time for the new season.

No offense to Ken Dorsey, and even tho I hate the guy Kordell Stewart but he might work in the offense because he can run... and run.... and fumble and throw interceptions... but he has experience and will win a few games. Its a no win situation

I think Warner would be a good pick-up even as a back-up here. He knows both the Rams' offensive and defensive schemes and that info could come in really handy when they play both times. Martz is stupid enough to not change a damn thing.
