Jones/Tarver 2..
I'm excited about this, I surely thought it was closer then the judges thought in the first one, but am anxious to see how much better a healthy and not just skinny, but REALLY in shape Roy Jones dominates Tarver.
Also, I want to order this fight, but I have a previous engagement that night at 7pm Alaska Time, the fight is at 5pm Alaska Time. Anyone know where you can get info on what fights on the undercard will be shown on TV? If any? |
I think it'll be another tough fight. styles make fights, and Tarver has the style to give Jones alotta trouble.

I thought Tarver did a lot better than he got credit for in the first fight. He put a whompin on Jones and landed the harder punches. The rematch will be awesome...both of them will bring a lot more to the ring to prove their point this time around. It's good to see Jones fight someone that is at least a challenge for him.

I agree. This may be a tough one again for Jones. Also i think with Jones bulking up to heavy and back down may make this even closer now as Jones aint getting any younger.

wow... Tarver by TKO in Round 2!!!

Still, from what I hear, it was an impressive showing by Tarver. I thought for sure that Jones would have eaten him for breakfast. Guess he got overconfident and paid for it. Every great fighter does it sooner or later. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt |
Just one hard punch in the second round and that did it, Jones wasn't expecting that left punch to his face.
|
Glad to see Jones humbled in the ring.

Regardless, Tarver proved he can walk the walk. He took Roy's shots early on and then found an opening for the big left. And not to detract from his win, but fighters like Jones can fade pretty quickly. He's dominated for over ten years with his natural skill and speed but these attributes will eventually fail a fighter that is dependent upon them. Roy can no longer get away with moving backwards or holding his hands behind his back. |
Looked to me like Jones had the fight pretty much in hand untill Tarver got through with that left. I think barring a... I won't say lucky, but fortunately timed shot, Jones wins that fight. Looking forward to another rematch.

Jones won't fight again. That's it.
He already has said he doesn't want another fight unless it's Vitali or Big Mike. I don't see Jones fighting again. |
Jones looked just as good as he always has, but he still got knocked out. All credit due to Antonio Tarver. Although he has an even bigger mouth than Jones. He will just not shut up about himself.
I love how Jones copped out at the end of the fight again. "Oh, what's the point of me preparing for a fight like this?" Well, so you don't get knocked the fuck out, that's why! He was not humbled at all, he is in denial that there is someone better than him. His excuse was that he had no real motivation to prepare for a fight like this. My ass. He wasn't saying that on Leno just a few nights ago. Oh, and as far as Tarver landing a "lucky" punch, that was one of the most precise knockouts I've seen in a while, and I wouldn't call it lucky at all. |
REF: "You guys have any questions?"
TARVER: "Yeah.. you got any excuses tonight, Roy?" Classic. My friends and I were in shock when Roy went down. The when he tried to get up, and fell back down. That's the worst. Props to Tarver. He actually backed up his mouth. |
Historically Jones destroys the opponent of a rematch where there was controversy as to th elast fights outcome/decision. Jones will back this up again vs. Tarver in the second. This one won't be close folks.
