I can't believe how well the Sharks are doing. Especially after the start they had...

No offence but if you feel this way you are a fan of the Canucks and not a hockey fan, a real fan can watch any game no matter who is playing, and enjoy it.
Give me a break. When your team loses in the playoffs, such as the Avs are doing now, getting totally creamed, it takes a lot out of you. For you to say someone is not a true hockey fan because they lose a little enthusiasm at that point is ridiculous and pompous. Are you handing out "fan diplomas?" Gee, can I be a fan, too? Don't presume to tell anyone if they are a true fan or not. It's a little offensive and without merit.

silent_jay 04-27-2004 11:29 AM

This is what I was referring to in case you didn't bother to read it

Quote:

Back to reality now i guess, no more hockey worth really watching. Man I feel so stupid and used after the year for some reason. Like the little rituals, and traditions before the game, just stupid stuff, but now that it is all over, I feel empty. Do I have problems. hahaha. I think so.
When someone says there is no hockey worth watching it sounds like they are losing a little bit more than enthusiasm. How does it take a lot out of you when your team loses? Man it's only a game to the fans, it takes a lot out of the players when you lose, trust me. Now as to the your "fan diplomas" I have a diploma for you but it's a big pointy hat. Did you happen to notice the response that I got from the person I said this too, seems like the only one who thinks it is offensive and without merit is you. Now the next time you post about something I type try and go back through the pages to see if there is a point, because this my friend this was pointless.

silent_jay 04-27-2004 11:37 AM

Here is the response I got, now he doesn't sound offended at all, so you see, read before you post, it always helps.

I think that's a pretty natural reaction. You know, for a true fan. But you have it all figured out. Thanks for the pointy hat, anyhow. And I read just fine. I still find your remarks pompous and a little unrealistic. Any fan of any team feels depleted after cheering for them all year and then getting owned in the playoffs. And yeah, sometimes you can lose interest in the rest of the teams.

No shit? Thanks. Really.

matteo101 04-27-2004 01:33 PM

I agree with both parties, and I am the one who said the first thing, and responded. It takes alot out of you when it first happens, but that is with anything. After a while though, you start to put things back into perspective. I am even still very disapointed, but I am not depressed.

silent_jay 04-27-2004 06:02 PM

I'm just not even getting lured into this flame war so back to hockey. The Habs just lost 4-3 to Tampa, now they need a miracle if the opinion of a pompous and unrealistic indidual matters.

silent_jay 04-27-2004 06:15 PM

1-1 , Schnieder tipped it in his own net

silent_jay 04-27-2004 06:19 PM

2-1 Flames, Iginla gets it, looks like the fight with Hatcher fired him up a la round 1 against Ohland

silent_jay 04-27-2004 06:32 PM

2-2 Fisher scores for the Wings

silent_jay 04-27-2004 06:33 PM

3-2 Flames, Donovan Scores, GO FLAMES

silent_jay 04-27-2004 07:42 PM

Flames win, Flames win

matteo101 04-27-2004 07:44 PM

Thanks for the commentary. lol.

sherpahigh 04-27-2004 09:36 PM

YEAH FLAMES!!! Huge game!! I thought the flames played amazing tonight. They looked like they wanted it!! Go Flames, way to look alive!!!!

This town's going crazy. It's supposed to snow tonight, the weather is SHITE, and the place is nuts!! 17th ave was unreal, so loud!!! It's like we won the cup or something, keep a little in the tank kids. The flames are goin' deep.

Wooohooo!!!

matteo101 04-27-2004 09:59 PM

Man, for the flames to win two more against the wings, they are going to have to give it everything they have. They better save abit for the sharks...

Tempboy 04-27-2004 11:28 PM

Well, we're going to start getting some bodies back in the next couple games.. Warrener, Lydman, and Simon.

Maybe Gauthier if we're lucky.
And Reinprecht, if he gets bionic arm/shoulder implants like Jax from Mortal Kombat.

no problem, the Flames played a great game, Cujo wasn't exactly stellar in nets, but the Flames were the better team, they showed more heart and desire than the Wings. Maybe a real fan such as docbungle can give us his expert opinion on this series.

Averett 04-28-2004 04:55 AM

Now that was an excellent game :D

diddagirl 04-28-2004 05:05 AM

The flames definitly gave it all they had. Makes me so happy to see another win!

Anyone beating the Wings in the playoffs is a friend of mine. Go Flames. And I thought

Enough already.

maximusveritas 04-28-2004 01:35 PM

I can't believe the Flames are leading this series. The Red Wings are undoubtedly the more talented team, but the Flames are playing with tremendous heart. Game 4 is gonna be huge. Both teams are banged up and will be fighting for their lives out there. Yzerman, Iginla, Joseph, Kiprusoff... this is what playoff hockey is all about.

I agree, I'm not a big Wings fan myself, although I do like some of their players.

Agreed!

Tempboy 04-29-2004 11:29 PM

Man... we could have had this game.
Cujo gave out SO many juicy rebounds...

Averett 04-30-2004 03:07 AM

4-2? Boo... Went to sleep before the 3rd. Crap :(

silent_jay 04-30-2004 05:10 AM

Flames showed some heart coming back from 2-0 to tie it up, they have the Wings worried, lets hope they can finish them off soon

CandleInTheDark 05-01-2004 02:10 PM

Flames leading the series 3-2. Let's hope the burn the Wings back home.

matteo101 05-01-2004 02:16 PM

Good job flames, they played well tonight...

maximusveritas 05-01-2004 06:34 PM

yeah, that was a great win for the flames. The Wings kind of let up a bit after Yzerman got injured and the Flames capitalized big time. Then Kiprusoff withstood the barrage in the 3rd to get the win.
It'll be interesting to see how the Wings respond in Game 6 without their captain. I'm no Detroit fan, but I've always respected Yzerman. Guys like him, Sakic, and Iginla represent all that makes hockey great. I felt sick seeing him on the ice like that and hope he gets better soon.
That said, GO FLAMES GO!!!

as Barry Melrose said... more times than not, will beats skill.

lets hope the Flames can close it out back in the Saddledome!

CanadianCommie 05-01-2004 11:59 PM

the old men of detriot are most likely to lose if they continue to look like they have permanent jet lag on the ice. They just cannot match the intensity that the Flames have put up, or hit that all important next gear that would give them the winning edge. All that skill is useless when you just can't get it to work

Tempboy 05-02-2004 05:21 AM

Yesssss!!! I'm gonna be there at the 'Dome on Monday when hopefully the Flames send Detroit off to the retirement home.

Wooohoo!!!

GOOOOO FLAAAAAAAMES!!!

Ace_O_Spades 05-02-2004 11:03 AM

if the flames win at least the canucks losing will have been justified... any team who beats detroit is good in my books

haha, still no credit for the flames? Not till they beat out Detroit?

Ah well, that's the way we like it anyway, underdogs to the end.

That win yesterday afternoon sent me into a beer soaked sunny afternoon good time that led on well into the evening. 17th Ave. was crazy again yesterday, the whole town was for that matter. Driving around town you see people standing on the side fo the roads with flames flags and signs, cars honking and people chanting and cheering everywhere. It's taken over.

Can't wait for game 6 tomorrow night at the dome. I'd kill to get tickets to that. Not looking too good so far for that happening. Have fun at the game Tempboy!

Go Flames Go!! All the way to the cup.

Ace_O_Spades 05-02-2004 12:17 PM

no credit to the flames till they beat detroit... that sounds about right! ;)

haha

seriously though, they are playing AWESOME hockey right now, and it would be grand if i were a flames fan, or NOT a canuck fan... c'est la vie

Tirian 05-03-2004 09:25 PM

Let me be the first to send congrats to Calgary - !!!!

Sweet to see Detroit go down in Flames .

bond007 05-03-2004 09:28 PM

let me be the 2nd, eh? way to go Calgary!

btw: Erin Andrews is such a baby doll!

Ace_O_Spades 05-03-2004 09:30 PM

good job Calgary... you earned your trip to the final four

give em hell
