The Rodeo

I just have to say that these guys are some bad ass dudes. I've recently become addicted to Rodeo competition on ESPN, it's pretty entertaining. It was kinda funny how they were all bashing other "extreme" sports (focusing on skateboarding), which normally i would take issue with - but not in this case. Relatively speaking, skateboarding might as well be tiddlywinks as far as the danger factor is concern.

Anyone ever been to the rodeo?

Rodeo is very badass....

I've never been, but I really wanted to go to the Calgary Stampede last summer. Oh well, maybe next time!

Dang, i am telling the Canadian government that you should be able to live there. You sure do love some Calgary, Alberta. Yeah and they wear boots and chew Copenhagen. That is pretty dangerous as well. But man, hitting a set of 10-15 stair hand rail or ollie-ing it with a skateboard. You dont think thats up there with the rodeo?

I've been to a few. You've got to be both crazy and gutsy to up there on a bull or a bronc and ride it out. I recommend going to any rodeo, even a small-time one. That's actually better, in some ways, because you're usually right up there on the action.

Yeah, the comparison to skateboarding is interesting. If you wipe out on a skateboard, the board doesn't circle back around and try to stomp you; nor does it weight half a ton.

Ok... try riding a bull on concrete then...

Yeah, learning that kind of stuff is definitely intimidating, but you can work your way up to it, and in skateboarding, once you learn it, it's not really that hard anymore, and once you learn it, it's not quite as dangerous either. I've been skating since i was 14 (30 now). These guys lives are at stake every single time that frickin gate opens. There ain't no way in hell i would do it.

Ive been to a few dozen rodeos, and the only way skateboarding would compare, is if the skateboard weighed 800-1500lbs and tried to trample you if you fell off wrong.
