NFL Draft
It's almost that time of the year again. The NFL Draft is a month from tomorrow.
Here's a pretty good site that has a listing of different mock draft sites, if you want to see who your team may choose. http://www.footballsfuture.com/2004/mock.html

I must say that I am truely bummed out that San Diego is going to get their hands on yet another quality QB and most likely ruin his carreer. OK, the real reason Im pisse that Eli is going to SD is because I really wanted a Manning to come back down to bayou. Its ok, we still have Ricky Williams... Awww SHIT!

Oh man - great find! Everything I find is pay stuff like Sporting News or ESPNInsider. This is just what the doctor ordered. I will tell you though - If the Chargers draft a QB they should be shot. Brees is a very good QB. He has ZERO protection and craptose WRs. Trade with the Cardinals and grab Mike Williams at #3. He is a genuine gamebreaking WR STUD!
Oh yeah and Go Skins! No matter what they need - if Mike Williams is on the board at #5 when they pick - GRAB HIM! I know they don't need a WR at all, but he is in my opinion the best player in the draft. Not that Mike Williams will be there anyway so it is moot....

They're gonna go for Sean Taylor or trade down.
I'm just a little depressed about the fact that the Ravens don't have a #1 pick. Then I remember that we traded it for the rights to pick Kyle Boller, and I get happy again.

Yeah I don't see a reason for San Diego to go after a quarterback either. I say give Brees another chance next year, with a better line and better receiving corps.
Other than that, I am anxious to see who the Cowboys will draft. If (when) they draft a runningback, I hope the late pick luck of the last several years will finally fall on the Cowboys.

Not a charger fan...
but I do live in San Diego, and I have to say that though I am not remotely impressed with Drew, any QB that can't scramble like Mike Vick is gonna get killed here. The Chargers need Gallery -- a whole O Line, to be fair -- AND a Mike Williams type just to have a chance... Oh yeah, they could use Rodney Harrison back to. Come to think of it, isn't it obvious that they're not trying to win and want to move out the team...? Major league, anyone?

i would love to see the bears make a move for gallery but i think they would have to move to #1 or 2 and i am sure they aren't willing to do that. a more realistic move might be for one of the receivers. i really like mike williams and would love to see him on the team. if they stay with their 14th pick then they better address either DT or OT. those are by far their biggest needs.
with all this chargers talk, i haven't seen enough of their game but i will say that i don't know if brees is the answer. he seems to be a little small and i don't think his arm is all that strong. also, didn't the team totally lose confidence in him last year? going into a new year with a qb that no one has faith in will definately spell trouble. i guess the question i would be asking is brees the guy you want running your team for the next ten years? |

hmmmmmmm a charger thread?
i think the problem was when you guys hired shottenheimer two or three years ago. since then he made terrible moves by letting go the cornerstones of your defense: jr. seau, rodney harrison, and recently marcellus wiley. on a risky move, last years first pick was on sammy davis, this was questionable because the year before you picked up quentin jammer. your defense should somewhat be bolstered this year though with randall godfrey and donnie edwards at LB. i saw give brees a shot. you dont have boston anymore, but you do have kevin dyson and paid a ridicuous amount on dim dwight. i say trade down for a late 1st and early 2nd. and draft 2 stud wide receivers. although you wont get any of the 3 williamses or fitzgerald, this draft is stocked with talent at that position.

A lot of mock drafts are projecting that the lions will get Taylor and Perry as their first and second round picks. Oh man, i'll be pumped if that happens. With the addition of taylor, the lions would have one of the best secondaries in the league, which has been one of the huge problems for us. I just used the words "best" and "lions" in the same sentence without the word "not"! Also, Perry as a RB would be a steal, since i'm also a michigan fan, i've seen a lot of his play. I thought he would go in the first round, but I guess that the need for RBs isn't that big this year.
I can't wait for this draft, and the next year. Maybe, just maybe the lions will contend for the playoffs!

I assure you that if the Lions land Taylor, they'll be seen in the playoffs this 2004/05 season. Harrington is a fine QB who just needs to work on his game a little, and they just acquired Brock Marion =) ... good stuff there. As for Sean Taylor, that guy is sick, I've seen him up close in practice last year and all I gotta say is that he's gonna enter the NFL being the best at his position. As for Eli Manning... eh, I dunno, if Eli's last name wasn't Manning, he sure as hell wouldn't be the top pick. I'd take Big Ben anyday, he has great size and all the intangibles, hopefully he lands in Oakland, or Larry Fitz... but the Raiders have pretty good receivers as is.

lions rumor
Anyone heard anything about the Detroit Lions trading with the Pat's for the later picks and someone else? I personally would like to see us get Sean Taylor, then Chris Perry in the second.

I am very interested to see how Mike Williams late workouts turn out. I think he will be the next Randy Moss talent-wise. He could go as high as #2 or #3, depending on trades and stuff. One of those mock draft sites had him at #15 to the Bucs, LOL.
As for all this Chargers talk, I agree with what SI has said, that they should trade down to get the #3 pick and another pick, pick up Mike Williams at #3, and have another pick yet to use.
