Owens An Eagle?
Will Terrel Owens win his hearing, become a free agent, and sign with the Eagles? I don't think the NFL has any other choice right now. I mean, what can you do with one of the greatest recievers playing right now if he outright says, "I won't play for this team"?
|
How great a receiver he is has nothing to do with this situation. Nor does his refusal to play for the Ravens. As far as I know quality of play has no bearing in contractual law. Either his contract will be ruled valid or not, legaly, which will determine his status. If his contract is voided he can choose who he wishes to play for, if anyone wants to pay his asking price. If the Ravens hold a valid contract ,he will play for them or forfeit his pay, which I don't see happening.

He cannot win it. His only arguments are that he should have been allowed to file by the old date, and that SF had no right to trade him without his consent. Well, his agent had the responsibility to know when the dates were, and was notified about them, and last time I checked, SF could trade him wherever they wanted.
It would set a bad precident in the league; if you didn't want to play for a team, you could simply go to court. |
No sorry. Your agent fucked up, you are still under contract, you have been traded in a legitimate deal, like it or not, Baltimore own you.
|
For the record, there's a rumor apparently on ESPN that he won his hearing, but I haven't seen anything to show whether it's true or not.
Stay tuned. |
I think it must be just that, a rumor. I don't think anyone knows yet of a decision because today both sides presented their case to the master, who will make his decision, unknown to anyone but himself, untill he E-mails them tomorrow. Thats the way I beleive it works anyway.
I do believe he has a shot though. And I can't honestly say I would be too disappointed if he wins and goes elsewhere. |
The story now is that there is a compromised being discussed where TO would become a FA, Baltimore would get their second round pick back and an additional compensitory pick, and San Francisco would get the third round pick of whomever signs TO.
Personally, I would LOVE that deal, especially if the comp pick was between the first and second rounds. |
Sounds good to me too. Except it sucks that we lost opportunities for other free agents because of that clown. But an extra pick would be nice if thats what happens. You never know for sure untill its a done deal. And sometimes not even then.

Terrell Owens is now an Eagle for 7 years. Baltimore gets a fifth round pick from Philly, their second round pick from San Fran, and San Fran gets Brandon Whitting. Amazing deal for the Eagles, LETS GO SUPER BOWL!
|
Hell yea baby!!!!!!!! TO an EAGLE!!!
|
While I agree it's nice that T.O. is an Eagle, I wouldn't place orders for superbowl tickets just yet.
|
Baltimore gets a 5th round pick for nothing.. good deal.

I suppose, but you only have the upper management to blame for the other two... TO is a headcase so I won't even go there.
|
yea baltimore got fucked! likewise crewser on the superbowl tickets...especially if j.lewis is goin to jail for dope slangin...and if r. lewis decides to kill anyone else...talk about a headcase.
TO gonna fit right in with philly, you'll see. |

Dammit. This is just what I needed. I was really hoping this didn't happen.
T.O. and McNabb? The NFC East just got a lot tougher for the Cowboys...at least the Giants will still suck. |
I could be an ass and bump all the T.O. topics where I said he'd become and Eagle and the "Baltimore Coalition" kept saying, "no, no, that will never happen."...But I won't. But I will go...
http://www.sancorazon.net/RUP/cartman.gif "hahahaha-ha-ha TO is an Eagle." (Note: this is the only picture I could find of Cartman smiling, so ignore the pubes :)) |
Counting down the days until he has a fit at Andy Reid, then gets his ass kicked in the locker room ;)
|
He wouldn't get his ass kicked in the locker room, he'd get his ass kicked in the parking lot by rabid Eagles fans. Duh :P
