Not about the $
DETROIT -- Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek has refused to accept about $3 million of his salary because he is out with a groin injury.
Hasek, who announced Feb. 10 that he would miss the remainder of the season with the injury, has not accepted pay since Jan. 9, general manager Ken Holland said Friday. That was the day Hasek and the team agreed the goaltender should rest the injured groin for two to four weeks. ---- Hasek is now my favorite player of all-time.

Steve McNair basicly just gave back all of his bonus money to the Titans for the next 3 years, possibly up to $50 million.

Classy move and Haseks part, I still don't like him, Hasek the best because of this, I think Johnny Bower, Glenn Hall, Terry Sawchuck, Gump Worsely, Patrick Roy, Grant Fuhr, Billy smith, Jaques Plante might of had something to say about that the list goes on and on and on. But it was a classy move by a player who hasn't shown the most class in the league. I must give him credit. Thanks.

It was a good move by Hasek but I still want to know why he walked for the rest of the season instead of taking the 2-4 weeks to see if he healed. Don't get me wrong, as an AVS fan I don't want the Manny L/ Hasek combo. Manny is on fire and you never know when the Dominator will show up.
I am just wondered if the Detroit org is just showing its class and letting Hasek off the hook easy and making him look like a good guy. I doubt the Red Wings would have been obligated to pay Hasek after he bailed for the season. And yes, an AVS fan actually did say the Red Wings have a classy organization, doesn't mean I like them though. BTW: I recall Forsberg gave up his entire salary, which I think was 5 of then 10 million salary, when he was recovering from his spleen removal..
