Back to NBA Rookieof theYear....
There will be a serious problem if there is not @ least a CO ROY.
LeBron James' season is or has not been that much better than Melo's. After speculation...Boozer & Ilgauskas (spell??) are better than Andre Miller and whoever on the Nuggets. Comments? |
melo should get it...
but LJ has the hype... go with the media to decide |
it has to be Lebron. The surrounding cast of players has nothing to do with the ROY award. It just has to do with the individual and how he performs. Granted I like Melo a lot better than Lebron, but Lebron has done a lot more this season.

I have little faith in the Coorporate America but if Melo is denied...it would be heartbreaking and further proof that consumerism and marketing rule. |
Darko, Darko, Darko!!!!

Assists have very little to do with the teammates, unless they are horrible and can't get open. Seeing as Denver has a better all around team than Cleveland... that's not the case. Assists have to do with the ability to see other players and get them the ball. Melo is a scorer, Lebron is an all-around player. The fact that Melo is on a west conference team should be cancelled out by the fact that without him, they would still have a way better record than last year: Cleveland wouldn't without Lebron. I would be fine with a co-rookie of the year, but if it does go to a single player, it should be Lebron. |
I am not looking for Melo to take it all..its a split.
They are both enroute to take the rookie scoring title from Amare (2003 ROY). I believe Cleveland has a better squad than Denver. Without Melo..(your opinion is wrong)...the nuggets would be looking for 20 a night from Rodney White?!?! NeNe?!?!?...Jon Barry?!?!? Please rethink this. @ this point they are even. When LeBron gets his floor general thing down he will be better, but as of now...they are even (and my perosnal opinion is that Melo is better). |
I think James is having a better year statistically, but only slightly better. I think this is a prime chance for co-Rookies.
You know who is quietly having a solid season??? Kirk Hinrich for the Bulls. With all the hype surrounding my boy Darko, Hinrich is proving to be a nice addition to an otherwise disappointing Bulls team. |
What about the fact that 'Melo has played forward all year, while LeBron has done his job from the point?
I think that alone puts LeBron over the top. |
Bron is better. He has a court sense that Melo just doesn't have. He creates for his teammates, which Melo doesn't do. Melo is a one dimensional player. He's a scorer. LeBron is a scoring leading who gets people involved, and can play 4 positions on the court. I'm no Melo hater. Hell, I love his game, but it's just not as good as Lebron's.
If we want to talk about their teams records. Here's a few facts. Sure, Melo is in a tougher division, but his team was better than LeBron's at the beginning of the season. The Cavs just stunk it up early and threw away many games, but they've made some great trades, and made their team better, and since the All start break the Cavs record is much better than the slumping Nuggets. If Melo was such a great leader he'd be able to pick his team up, and keep them winning. I said it early on in the season that the Nuggets won't make the playoffs, and I still don't think they will. They're almost out right now. Plus the Nuggets have a tougher schedule to finish off the season. Also, LeBron had millions od haters who wanted him to flop, but as I've been saying for 2 years he's gonna be the best player in the NBA in a few years, and everyone that I've told that to said I was crazy.... Guess I'm not so crazy anymore because people don't argue that with me now. He came into the league under more scrutiny than anyone, and he's surpassed all the hype that was surrounding him. I'll just add, once again, that the fucking Pistons are the dumbest team on the face of the planet, and when it's all said and done their decision to not pick Melo will go down as one of the top draft day fuck ups of all time. Plus, the Pistons wouldn't have had to trade for Rasheed, who will most likely be gone after this season, if they just would've been smart and picked Melo. |
What LeBron WILL be should not take away from what MELO is NOW!
Furthermore...Carlos Boozer is a BEAST. Besides Shaq and Yao, Z is the best center in the NBA. Regardless of the differences in their games, both of these boys are exceeding all and any expectations. Melo is No Lebron yet he has continued to inject his scoring ability and overall Game into the Nuggets and have the same effect as LeBron. Maybe LeBron will win some MVPs but these dudes are CO ROY. |
Lebron will get it. It's all about stats, they really don't care what conference you are in and what team you are on.
The only slight factor is whether your team makes the playoffs, and it looks to me like Denver will drop out and Cleveland will make it. |

Dwayne Wade?.... alright fine... lebron deserves it...

I've got to go with Sixate on this one. LeBron James is truly one of the first players I've ever seen to live up to the hype. He is in my opinion, a much more well rounded player than Melo, and is extremely unselfish. He has a presence that Melo just doesn't have, and he has been the soul ingredient to keeping the Cavs playing as a team.

IMO, there will be a Co-MVP, it's happend before, and rightfully so it may happen again this year.
EDIT: I meant Co ROY |
I think Lebron James will get it too.....
|
I respect all answers and these guys get paid millions and me..thousands so who cares in the end.
I just cant understand the logic here @ all. Yes James came in with HYPE on the shoulders, and yes he has lived up to it. Now Melo, without the hype pretty much mirrors James. Furthermore..Melo as well as James are looking @ breaking Stoudamire's Rookie Scoring Average record... They HAVE to award a Co ROY. |

They don't HAVE to do anything. I wouldn't be upset if there was Co ROY. They're both great, but Bron is better. |
LeBron can play four positions, including his primary position at the point. Carmelo can only really play two, three in a pinch.
I don't want to sound like I'm hating on 'Melo, 'cause I could never do that to a Baltimore boy, but LeBron deserve the ROY more. |
LeBron... There's only a few players that you could make an argument for not trading for LeBron, (Garnett, Duncan..) But there's a lot of players I wouldnt trade for Melo (Even tho I love Melo)
gots to be Bron Bron |
Chris Bosh has been doing a fantastic job at center for the Raps, often playing against centers bigger and stronger than him.
But ROY has got to go to LeBron.. |
I'd be happy with CO ROY but if not, either is deserving. I just want to thank Detroit for leaving Melo for the Nuggets. All I know is Melo brought basketball back to Denver. The attendace is way up, with the people actually there and the Nuggets are an actual topic in the media.
If the voting is done on impact to a team and town, then Melo should win. |

Denver was going to be an up-and-coming team anyway. With Andre Miller and that Brazillian guy they would've been building up anyway.
Cleveland has been a basketball wasteland since Mark Price left. They would be nowhere near where they are without LeBron. |
CO ROY! CO ROY!
LeBron is fading a bit and Denver is still in the hunt. Split the AWARD!!!!! |
Melo should win, just for the fact that he led his team to the playoffs in the west. if the Cavs had been in the west, they would have been destroyed.
if anything though, we should have CO ROY, just to give both players the respect they deserve. |
Nimbletoe, just imagine for a minute:
Ben Wallace Rasheed Wallace Okur Billups Dwayne Wade Hell, I think that would even be better than 'Melo in there. Quote:
|
to me rookie of the year should be carmelo!
His team is doing better then Lebron's |
Split the award.
The Cavs would have not won more than 17 in the MidWest. |
"to me rookie of the year should be carmelo!
His team is doing better then Lebron's" If we are basing ROY on Wins than wouldn't Luke Walton for sure win the award? After Carmellos tantrum in the Detroit game LeBron is almost a sure win for ROY. |
LeBron

And another thing: Let us look at entertainment purposes: Who is more exciting to watch, LeBron or Carmello? LEBRON easily. I love watching 'Bron drop dimes and do crazy dunks and fading away as if it was what he was born to do..... |
Lebron, hands down, no questions.
|
It will be Lebron James. I think that Carmello is just as worthy.
|
To the people that are saying Melo should get it:
If Carmelo was on the cavs in place of LeBron, do you think they would have had as good of a record? Hell no. Cleveland had no outside threat, possibly the worst bench in the league, no solid defender like nuggets have with miller, their only good players were 1 rookie and two sophomores, very little threat in the paint... denver was already a much much better team then cleveland minus the two rookies. Especially when cleveland started getting hurt by injuries. There is a reason that boozer and Z did better this season: Lebron MAKES them better. He can control the tempo on the court, Melo can't. Lebron can play more positions, had better stats, almost got a much worse team to the playoffs (missed by one game), and is an overall player. Now, that still doesn't take away from what Melo did this year as well. There should be a CO-ROY imo. But if it had to go to one person, it should go to LeBron. |

I saw Lebron down here take on the Heat last week and I was very impressed. I'd have to give my vote to him.
