Alright... this thread is to throw out an idea for weekend "picking" tournaments to display your sporting knowledge. (or how lucky you are at picking) Please let me know in this thread if you are interested or not. We'd probably need at least ten players.

I would post a group of games and events Friday morning. Mostly high profile stuff: I'm not gonna ask you to pick the winner in the 5th at Aquaduct. But say, using this weekend as an example:

Yankees vs. Oakland (Clemens vs. Zito)
Nascar Race
F1 Race
NBA and NHL playoffs
Kentucky Derby
etc... say ten events in total

I would in the post:
1. Clearly list each event and provide links to relevant articles (if available). This should help you if you aren't very familiar with the event (many TFPers are not US sports followers). Plus, not everyone follows every sport, perhaps this will help.

2. Post early Friday morning, and list the appropriate "close time." Say, five minutes before the first event begins. I can then, at that time, record the entries (so nobody sneaks in late).

3. Tally the winner - which I think will be determined with the highest point total. Every entry submitted will have ten picks and a tie break. Say, total amount of points scored in NBA playoff game. This way nobody will feel they need to pick an entry different than the guy before - you can still win on the tiebreak if you agree with his picks and get your entry in later. Winner will be hailed on Monday.

Let me know if you would participate - let me know if you would not. I won't be offended or anything, I'm just trying to determine if it is worth it or not.
