Good move for the Ravens, they finally have a passing threat, while Ray Lew will probably keep TO's ego in check. While a 2nd round pick for the Niners is better than a 3rd round pick they would have gotten if TO had remembered to become a FA.

For a 2nd? Are you kidding me? Wow, so many teams missed out.

I am about as pumped as I've ever been in the offseason!

A pro bowl receiver and possible future hall of famer (if he could get his head right) for a second round draft pick - sounds like a good deal for the Ravens to me.

As long as Jamal Lewis does not face serious repurcussions from his problems with the law as of late, it looks like the Ravens will be one of the top teams in the AFC next year. That is if they can find a quarterback that will be able to get the ball to TO often enough to keep him interested in the game.

Gotta be excited about this, lets see 8 in the box every play now! T.O., Heap and Taylor. Looks like the Ravens are serious about becoming more balanced. The great part is, it will most likely actually improve the running game.

this news pisses me off... the browns and steelers could not beat the ravens before TO

They dont even need a good QB now, they need one that can jsut huck it up to TO all day. He's a slightly better target than Marcus Robinson(bitter bears fan). Gus Ferotte taught us all that when you have an MVP caliber reciever, you don't have to exactly be an amazing QB. He said it himself, its not too hard when you throw it up and let Moss run under it.

tru tru TO was a 3rd rounder himself but just one of the rare gems, just hoping this years WR crop is good enough that we can find a suitable replacement to go along with Lloyd and Wilson

If Jamal Lewis isn't is prison next season, the Ravens have to be the favorite from the AFC.

Supposedly Philly was offering James Thrash and a fifth rounder...

Even if that happens, we have a guy, Musa Smith, who the Ravens thought was the 20th best player in the draft, and managed to fall to the third round. With Jamal getting all the carries and yards, we didn't see much of him, but the little I saw he looked like, well, Jamal Lewis.

An update.

John Clayton says that TO and Philly had a contract in place, but that SF wouldn't agree to the fifth rounder and James Thrash deal, and Philly wasn't offering anything better. Baltimore came in with their deal and SF took it.

He also said that Baltimore's inital offer of a new deal isn't far from the deal TO had with Philly, so there should be no problems.

I also read somewhere that the Philly deal was also used to "shop" TO around ie lookie heres what we can get for him, one up that and he is yours.

I still say noghting less than HIGH 2nd round, but i am not an owner :( and it is a done deal now.

Garcia to Cleveland would be something. Get to see TO play against the Browns AND Benglas AND get to see Garica MANY times.

well, supposably T.O. really wanted to play for the eagles, he said he plans to file grievance... does anybody know exactly what this means and does? here's the full story

He was going to file a grievence before this about not knowing about the date change to void his contract.

If he'll try to do one about the trade, he'll get laughed out of the room, since the trade is completely valid.

He's just angry about having a deal done and not being able to go there. Once Baltimore gives him the money, which they are in the process of doing, he'll be fine.

I hope T.O ends up in philly. That would be more exciting to watch.

Agents make like 10% of the contract value. I cannot believe that T.O.'s agent still has a job. This is the only thing he has to do all year and he does not do it. The trade should stand and TO should give his agent a beat down.

I think that San Fran. was intentionally screwing TO by sending him off to Baltimore... plus I think that Baltimore is a good place for TO..... it'll make him appreciate what he had in SF.

Umm...ok...what does that mean?

I think that it is a shot at the QB postion in Baltimore and the fact that San Fran has a primarily passing offense, whereas I think the Ravens threw the ball about 7 times last year.

Obviously, Baltimores passing game was lacking last year. How making T.O. the primary target of an attempt to balance the Ravens offense would be considered screwing him is beyond me. Not to mention the Ravens offer to rework his contract to put him at a par with the leagues elite recievers.
What more can you ask than to be traded to a definate playoff and possible Superbowl contending team, where you're pretty much guaranteed to be a primary target.
I think T.O. is a head case who won't be happy no matter what, and the Ravens might be better off with their second round pick back and let some other unfortunate team deal with "Leon". ( referring to the beer commercial, Miller lite I think).
That commercial slays me and now I think of him whenever I see it.

here's a good question...
should TO win his arbitration case, is the deal he made with Phillie binding or will he be able to negotiate with any other team?

It was a preliminary deal, which he would've signed had he been traded there.

If he's an FA, he can go anywhere though, or even demand a better deal from the Eagles.

Or the Eagles could demand a better deal from him, knowing he doesn't care about the money and only wants to play for them........not.

Crewsor, that would be hilarious. They should offer him the league minimum with no signing bonus.

Seriously, they would have him over a barrel. He would pretty much have to accept whatever they offer. Most other teams most like have been scared off. Not many were offering to begin with.
