Frank Robinson being the first black manager?

I know that isn't right since that was a trade, but dammit I'm gonna get this one

The answer is Wayne Garland, but I have absolutely NO idea what is special about him and the Indians

Edit: I found it...Damn that was a challenge

I had to Google to find it so I'll wait until no one else can get it to post the answer.

Really? This is what I found.

He was the first FA to sign a million-dollar contract, with the Indians for 10 years, and was waived after five after hurting his arm warming up on his FIRST DAY of spring training for the Indians, pitching poorly that year, undergoing surgury the next year, and never was the same.

My guess is that you are closer though.

DJ is right, the special thing about Wayne Garland was he became the first FA to sign a multi-million dollar contract (2.3 million over 10 years.)

The no hitter I didn't know about.

wow I had a good one. Normally people race to get to my question.

ok DJ you are up

Torre?

EDIT: I assume we're talking about a credible number of games? I know there are a few guys who retired like 3-0 and stuff.

Joe McCarthy.
Good job

I was hoping it would be that hard, since even though he was the manager of a series of great Yankees teams, he kind of gets lost deep in the shuffle of the great managers.

Very good guess... but one of his no-hitters wasn't official because he pulled an Andy Hawkins.

I believe that was the Orioles trade their first year here, 1954 when they got Gus Triandos for Don Larsen and there were like 20 other guys involved. Leave it to the Orioles to trade the Yankees their Series perfect Game Pitcher

Two guys have won the National League Rookie of the Year and the American League MVP award. Name them.
