Will Anyone Take Champ Bailey?

I just read on ESPN that the stupid Redskins are going to let Bailey test the market. What teams do you all think need him the most? I'm sure the Falcons are going to make some serious draft offers for him, their secondary was horrible this year.

Spartak 02-14-2004 02:21 AM

Chiefs ? Colts ?

Well... maybe not Indy, they'll have Peyton eating up all the cap.

But any team with a crappy secondary will jump all over Champ. I think KC should take him, their team made a decent run last year, but the passing defence really let the team down in the playoffs. A shutdown corner like him, could spruce things up.

Bring him down to Nawlins already! We need all the help we can get back there.

Strange Famous 02-14-2004 03:19 AM

I would think the Chiefs would definitely be very keen on him.

grumpyolddude 02-14-2004 05:26 AM

The Lions might be interested. They have his brother, Boss. He and champ have expressed the desire to play on the same team at some time in their careers.

Mondak 02-14-2004 07:57 AM

25 y/o and maybe the best corner in the league already? There will be bites for sure. He is one of my favorite 'skins though so I hope he stays.

thephuse 02-14-2004 10:12 AM

It's interesting cause almost every team in the NFL needs a CB upgrade.. heh.. I hope the Jets could get him, like the skins took our Coles, Morton, Thomas, and Hall... that Sniving Snyder

djtestudo 02-14-2004 10:26 AM

Don't worry...Bailey is going nowhere. No team could give up enough to make it worth the Redskins' while.

AL9045 02-14-2004 10:29 AM

While I like him, I don't want to overpay him, I mean a CB is an important position, but the money that he's demanding, don't they usually give that to like QBs and stuff?

i agree i do not see any team which even could use him have enough to ffer to the 'skins for them to make the move and let him go.

It's the money given to a player that can change the course of a game simply by appearing in it. Ray Lewis got it, Peyton Manning will get it, Lavar Arrington should never ever come close to it :D.

Champ Bailey is a corner that you DO NOT throw to. There are almost none of those; not even Charles Woodson or Chris McAlister are quite at that very top level. He is someone you keep for as long as you can no matter the cost.

He'll stay, he ain't man enough to leave. :D.

djtestudo 02-14-2004 04:29 PM

I could argue that he's too much of a man to stay ;)

rrf 02-14-2004 09:14 PM

I have now lost all respect for Champ Bailey... what a jackass
He obviously doesnt care about the Redskins - he just wants to be the highest paid defensive player in the league. A good player would see that he is hurting the team by declining the already ridiculous contract they offered him. He may have the skill, but hes not a "good player" in my book. Its players like these that ruin football.

sigh

thephuse 02-14-2004 09:25 PM

Football has always been like this.. at least the Football that we know now... You can see that as there are no more "dynasties" in football.

Parker 02-15-2004 01:25 PM

I hope the Jets can get him after the deadline rather than trade for him. I hate the Skins and Snyder. I like Champ Bailey and wish he can get out of Washington.

johnsmith 02-17-2004 10:21 AM

Are you kidding, any team in the league w/o a shutdowm corner would love to have him. Keep in mind that Ty Law will probably also be available.

aswo 02-17-2004 11:52 AM

I am sure a team that is in need of a serious secondary overall will give up some draft picks in order to land him. After all he is the best CB in football right now.

EbolaVirus 02-17-2004 01:46 PM

The Lions should get him. He and Dre Bly would make an excellent pair.

bond007 02-17-2004 03:40 PM

the Redskins want a 1st and 2nd round draft pick. I'm guessing the Lions can "semite" them down to a 1st & 3rd, maybe even a 1st & 4th.

Jesus Malverde 02-17-2004 03:54 PM

I've been thinking to myself that it would be great for the Cowboys to snatch Bailey away from their rivals. I know it will never happen, but hopefully some team makes the Redskins wish they could have kept him ( can Dan Snyder say "Stephen Davis?")

I actually wouldnt mind if the Lions get him... as long as they dont trade their draft pick for him.. hehe cuz if he goes to Detroit, Sean Taylor mite fall down to the Jets :D

I think Jets should trade John Abraham for a top 7 pick and get Sean Taylor, and pick Jonathan Vilma w/ the Jets pick :D :D :D

Bigt6909 02-18-2004 07:54 AM

The lions have the best shot at getting him... he'll lower his cost soon enough and the redskins hopefully wont get two DP for him... but it might be worth it for Detriot to have something going on defense.
