Not this year. Also I don't think Kobe would go to the Nets, Kobe wants to establish his own place where he is the franchise. I don't know if he could do that in NJ.

I never believed that Kobe was going to split from L.A. until recently. With all of the distractions and with him being away from the team nearly as much as he's been with them, I'm not sure about his time left with the team.
I don't see the Lakers letting him leave without having someone else in place. I've heard that Steve Francis is on the outs in Houston, but LA wouldn't be the greatest fit for him. Francis is upset that a big man is becoming the focus of the offense....I don't think he would necessarily get along with Shaq if he can't deal with Yao.

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Roger Clemens said that he wanted to finish his career with the Yankees!!! The only reason I could see Kobe staying in LA is that because of the cap, he's not going to be able to make as much somewhere else.

I'm willing to bet that Kobe leaves the lakers at the end of the season/off-season. I just dont see him being a part of that team for much longer. As soon as Phil is gone there will be too much tension amoung the big egos on that team. Hmm Kobe with the Pistons! Jk... good fantasy though.

ive seen a lot of teams listed so far that i would be interesting to see kobe find a new home in, but he can only land in certain cities for salary reasons.
that being said, he could definitely go to atlanta. it would be his team there (what he wants), and im sure he would welcome the idea of resurrecting that craptacular club. denver is another possibility. again, it would be mostly his team, and he would be a great role model for carmelo. denver could use a good 2-guard...lenard's inconsistency bugs me. phoenix (a team i love) could also land kobe. they would definitely be a 2nd round playoff team with kobe on the squad, since amare is advancing extremely fast, and marion is just a badass. lastly, the clippers (one of my favorite teams) could grab kobe. i would personally think that with kobe, the clips become a playoff lock....maggette is awesome, and i think elton brand is one of the top 5 power forwards in the nba. |

kobe isn't going anywhere.... he can sign for a lot more money with the lakers than any other team.... if he signs now with the lakers he'll sign for 30 million less.... if he says he's going to stay with lakers than he loses being able to bargain with la.... the nba is a business now and you have to be smart and check all your options.... kobe has been a laker fan all his life and magic was his favorite player growing up....

The wild card in all this as I see it seems to be whether the rumers are true of Kobe wanting to lead his own team without someone like Shaq there to take too much of the credit.
I could see him going to Phoenix or someplace like that where he'd be THE man, and could become another Michael Jorden.

Kobe is a money whore. Right now the Lakers will have the bigest cap space to resign him and so he will stay. Denver has the second highest, but it is way less right now. Like 2/3 of what LA has. Unless someone kicks some major salary to the curb, the Lakers will keep him.

its too shaky right now to tell. kobe really does want to have his own team, im sure. there's still some tension with shaq, and if the lakers dont win the title this year and phil jackson doesnt get an extension, there's a good chance kobe could jump off. hell, i kinda hope he does...

Kobe says he wants to be a laker for life, the owner jerrry buss said he will pay him whatever he wants, shaq has three more years left on his contract and gary, karl will want to come back for a repeat championship. It is going to be a long two years for the rest of the league.

I dont think that the Lakers will be able to beat San Antonio or Sacramento in the playoffs. LA hasn't been playing team ball very well, plus i think that the Kobe situation will eventually start to weigh in once they get to the trial. So, i dont think it will be a long two years for the league... if they don't win this year, which they wont. Gary, Karl and Phil will all be done, and Kobe will be moving on.

kobe is gone at the end of the year, hands down. i am suprised he was not traded before thursday. there were a few teams that showed major interest in him. magic offered mcgrady straight up, and mcgrady is the 2nd best player in the league, 1 being garnett. he doesnt fit in in la, and wants to "be like mike". iverson is also gonna be traded this summer. sucks bec i sure dont want francis for ai. i would take mcgrady though.

First and foremost if Kobe leaves LA he never going to win another title, period. But on the other side I do see him in a new uniform next year, because him and Shaq are never going to get along, and he already burning his bridge with Phil Jackson. But unfortunately he want to stay in LA which only leaves one option................... the Clippers.
