Rate the players
I found a thread on the EA Sports message board for MVP Baseball 2004 where people were asked to rate the players on their home team using ratings like in MVP or Madden and similar games. This is what I came up with:

Anyone want to take a crack at this for their team? |
I will post my YAnks soon...

I just went with position players - rating the pitchers would take a while. Here are your best Cleveland Indians:
Catchers B/T Ht Wt DOB 41 Victor Martinez S/R 6-2 170 12/23/78 44 Josh Bard S/R 6-3 215 03/30/78 15 Tim Laker R/R 6-3 225 11/27/69 Infielders B/T Ht Wt DOB 48 Travis Hafner L/R 6-3 240 06/03/77 23 Ben Broussard L/L 6-2 220 09/24/76 13 Omar Vizquel S/R 5-9 185 04/24/67 1 Casey Blake R/R 6-2 210 08/23/73 20 Ronnie Belliard R/R 5-8 195 04/07/75 7 Brandon Phillips R/R 5-11 190 06/28/81 16 Jhonny Peralta R/R 6-1 180 05/28/82 8 John McDonald R/R 5-11 175 09/24/74 74 Ivan Ochoa R/R 5-10 140 12/16/82 66 Corey Smith R/R 6-1 205 04/15/82 12 Ricky Gutierrez R/R 6-1 195 05/23/70 Outfielders B/T Ht Wt DOB 9 Jody Gerut L/L 6-0 190 09/18/77 24 Milton Bradley S/R 6-0 190 04/15/78 65 Grady Sizemore L/L 6-2 200 08/02/82 6 Alex Escobar R/R 6-1 190 09/06/78 10 Coco Crisp S/R 6-0 180 11/01/79 11 Matt Lawton L/R 5-10 190 11/03/71 38 Ryan Ludwick R/L 6-3 205 07/13/78 |
What are the ratings?

Anyone else?

I would do the Orioles as well and I agree with most of yours already. Some comments though:
86 seems awfully high for Julio. I am very worried about him and our end bullpen as well. I fear we will miss Ligtenberg a lot this year. 75 for Buddy Groom should be higher. He is solid even though he had a bit of a taper last year. 75 for Segui. I guess this was a typo and you really meant 57. I've met him before and he is a very nice guy. Damn he gets hurt a lot though. I would also rate Gibbons and Mora higher as well. Overall though I agree with most of yours. Clever Idea. I hope more people do their teams. Esp. Red Sox & Yankees fans. |
I put that for Julio because he is VERY young still and needs a little more control of his pitches, but he's already a very good closer.
Segui is there because he's a hell of a hitter and plays GG-caliber defense at first, but he gets hurt if a breeze hits him the wrong way. I would agree that Groom and Gibbons could be higher, but I want to see another year of Mora before I put him higher. |
