Are the Nets for REAL?
In the Eastern Conference that is.
They Spanked Detroit last night. Next we need to spank Indiana. All things remaining healthy..can the Nets ThreePeat as Eastern Conference Champs? I think so! |
I hate New Jersey... I really dont think they'll be able to beat indiana... indiana is damn good... and detriot just played like shit last night. Oh and even if they make it to the finals again, i dont think that they can compete against the west... like usual the west will win
|
if
and this is a big if if the lakers starting line up is not all together buy the playoffs pacers end this westren conferance winning the title thing but thats a big if |
The Nets could make it out of the east. With that said, they would get crushed in the finals by a number of teams from the west.
|
they make it out of the east and its becuase indiana choked again
not that that cant happen |

I think Indiana is overall a better team, and I think they will duke it out with NJ for the conference championship. I think they have a good chance to take it with their experience. The conferences (west & east) also seem closer this year; the west will probably win the championship but it'll be closer than in recent years. |
Detroit will beat them when they have Okur back. One defeat means nothing in the NBA. At this point, Indiana is probably going to win the conference against Detroit, but anything can happen after the allstar break.
|
No team in the east (on paper) can match up with: LA, SAC, DALLAS, SAN ANTONIO, or MINNESOTA.
With that being said...Regardless of how well the Pacers are doing..NJ has their number. O'Neal was outplayed by Martin last year. At point guard..no question. The only mismatch presented by Indy is Artest. |
O' Neal was out played?
O' Neal's stat line of: 20.3 ppg 2.3 bpg 1 spg 2 asp and 10.3 rpg THats better then Martin's 16.7 ppg .9 bpg 1.3 spg 2.4 asg 8.3 rpg At any rate The Nets are definently still in contention for the East. |
Larry Brown still doesn't have his player's attention, even after their 13 game winning streak, Chauncey and the boys aren't buying his game. THAT"S the thing that will put either NJ or Indy in the finals, because, when they are on, the Pistons can smoke anyone in the league.
I am impressed with the way the Nets have responded to the coaching change. I really thought that they were winning in spite of Byron Scott's coaching. Kenyon Martin will be the key to their success. In Indy, I'm waiting for the real Ron Artest to rear hi psycho nature. O'Neal's maturity this season seems genuine, but Artest is still seething underneath, I think. The coaching in Indy has been GREAT! Concerning the "dominance" of the Western Conference.... WAKE UP! The top teams of the west have been treated rather rudely when they've traveled east this season. Detroit, for instance, has beaten LAL, San Antonio, Dallas... and pressed those teams to the limit when they went west. Teh refs stole the Pistons game at Minnesota (Garnett and Cassel even apologized to Billups afterward). There will be a truly competitive finals this year. |
aside form the detorit thing we agree grumpy
the finals will be much closer this year |

Why do people hate New Jersey? Is it because they have spanked 9 teams in a row? I think New Jersey almost has the Eastern Conference in their palm...seriously...I think Frank and the Nets can go quite some time before they loose...on paper the West is better..but hey this is the NBA.
|
seems like the nets realized they screwed up the first half of the season, and they're making up for it now. kidd is playing awesome (as usual), richard jefferson has been pretty consistent, and kmart is turning it up. assuming they finish within the top 4 in the east, they'll probably run through whoever they face in the first round of the playoffs.
|
Right now if the Nets stayed on this roll th an they could finish first in the East. Seriously. Jefferson is doing great, K-Mart is playing like an All Star, and Kerry contributes consistently.

When Hamilton runs hard off the curl and Prince attacks the rim, good things happen. When not, the team settles for bad jump shots late in the shot clock. Brown wants Billups to run an agressive offense, but some nights he doesn't seem interested... Wednesday, against the Kings, he only took 8 shots and only made one. During the Pistons' 13 game winning streak, someone opined that the team was finally "getting it" in reference to Brown's expectations. As soon as that was published, the team started tanking... |

posh its been 2 years since nj meet indiana in the playoffs get your facts staright |
they need okur back in there asap. and billups the other night: 3 points wth????
on there good nights, the pistons can play as well as anyone in the league, which means the shooters have to hit cause the d is taken care of. |

hehe yea this thred got off topic short answer no the nets are not for real |
Sorry, guys. Got carried away answering powerclown.
Teh Nets are on a definite roll and had to hate seeing the all star break come along. The coaching change was a brilliant move. The team is coming out much better prepared every night. If they stay this focussed, the league is in for a hell of a time! |
im in jersey, and i love the nets.. too bad they are moving to brooklyn :/

Parting words from J.Kidd to the Media at the press conference after the All Star Game (as he & TJ rose from their seats on the podium): "SEE YOU AT THE FINALS"
|
Well that comment might just give the rest of the east a little reason to start playing well... you remember what happened when T-mac said something like that during the playoffs last year... they got beat...

To the comment about not likin Net players, I love K-Mart's attitude towards the game... he's all heart... Kidd is as good a PG there is, RJ has air (sadly no shot) and Kittles is a quiet contributor, and Collins does everyting a Center should be doin...(not like Shaq and Yao, but decent) |
