Brunell to Redskins...almost
ESPN story
The Redskins are close to trading for Brunell. It's clear to me this is a good move for the Jags who need to move on to Leftwich permanently, and it's not worth a QB controversy or even ill winds to keep Brunell around as a backup. My question is, what is Dan Snyder's motivation here? Is he going to bring Brunell in as a backup for Ramsey, although Hasselbeck did an admirable job as backup last year? Or does Gibbs want a veteran so bad that he's going to sit the promising (not to mention local favorite) Ramsey and let Brunell lead? There have been whispers around here about the big-spending Snyder pursuing TO, will this help? Talk! |

Brunell would definitely be a started at Washington imo, and I think its a really good signing... a lot of people are going to want him.

I've heard from people in the Dallas Cowboys organization that Parcells really wants Brunell. He fits the mold that Parcells wants, big, strong, has a good head on his shoulders, and plus he's the Aikman type QB, and fans in Dallas would recognize this and more and more support would come in. If Dallas got Brunell, I don't think that they would have to worry about drafting a QB, they just gotta draft an RB, and they'll be set to make a damn good playoff run.

I do not like this move if it infact does happen, Ramsey did good last year dealing with the injuries and such, the lack of a line and running game he did show somw flashes, they need to work with him some more, i am pretty sure if Coles stays healthy they find a running game and a line that can block they do not need Brunell.......
being a niners fan i do not want to see T.O. go however Philly after they shitty performance in the NFC championship game finally realizes it is time to get a real receiver might not be a bad fit, thought Terrell has openly stated he would not mind playing with Vick in Atlanta and with the niners D-coord now the head coach that might be something to look at.

I hate the Redskins, and definatly want to see them suck, but even I have to say this would be a terrible move for them. Ramsey was looking good; he just had some bad players around him on OL and in the backfield.
At least Steinbrenner improved his team in the decade after he bought it...Snyder can't even do that.

the buzz over here in jacksonville is that san diego and miami are also interested. but jacksonville cant make a move till after march 3rd when the nfl season officially kicks off again. the jag organization wants to hold out as long as possible for probably a first round pick for him, but its not likely. mark on the other hand wants to stay in florida and retire in jacksonville...and thats not likely either.

I don't think Brunell is the best fit in Washington, but I think Joe Gibbs has earned the benefit of the doubt. This is a man who won a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien as his QB.
You win 3 titles with 3 different quarterbacks----I trust you.

Horrible move for Washington - Ramsey has looked solid when he isn't be sacked by the entire opposing defensive line. The Redskins have more pressing needs, and very few draft picks. After a year off plus his aging and injuries, I doubt Brunell will be as effective as he was earlier in his career.
Perhaps they are just trying to drive up the price for Dallas? |

I think that Brunell would be a better fit in Dallas, but I have also heard Miami is interested. I think Jacksonville will be fine, they finished strong this season and may actually have Jimmy Smith, Kevin Johnson, and Fred Taylor all on the field at the same time for Leftwich to work with. Add that to a solid, young defense and you have a wild-card contender. Hell, they may finish ahead of the Titans, who have major cap and free agency issues.
