VOTE FOR SUPER BOWL LVP
I could care less about the MVP of this year's game, who do you think sucked the most?
My vote goes to John Kasay of the Panthers. An out of bounds kick on the final drive?!?!? TERRIBLE play! Probably lost the game right there. Made me sick to watch it after all they did to rally. So who do YOU think gets it?

and besides it was the decision to PASS, not the actual decision to GO FOR 2, that fucked the panthers over.

They definatly need to change the rule there on kickoffs. You can punt it OOB, but not kick it? At least allow it to go out unpenilized if it hits in-bounds first.
Still, it was an awful kickoff.

Kasay's kick wasn't near as bad as all those defensive penalties by Carolina. How many times was Kris Jenkins offside? 3 How about 2 defensive holding penalties continuing Patroit's TD drives? How about 4 kick/punt return penalties that cost Carolina needed field position?
If Carolina kicks the extra point instead of the 1st 2-point conversion attempt, the score is NE 21-Car 17. Carolina scores the next TD, and no decision is necessary, it would be an extra point instead a 2-point try. Car 24 - NE 21. New England's TD would be follow by an extra point try because there would be no incentive to try a 2-pointer. NE 28-Car 24. Carolina's final TD would make it Car 31- NE 28, and Vinateri is kicking the FG with :09 left in regulation to go to overtime at 31-31. Carolina's 2-point failures made up for one of Vinateri's earlier misses. The out-of-bounds kickoff rule was made as part of the changes in the late 1980s to speed up games. The old rule would have the kicker kick again after a 5-yard penalty was assessed unless the receiving team decided to take the ball where it went out of bounds.

That's true. Jenkins fucked up big on the defensive penalties. HOWEVER, i think certian penalties were unmerited. And on one play, i forget the pats reciever but he absoluetly manhandled his man out of the way and then caught for a TD, and that was as much of a holding as any of the holdings called on the Panthers.

Perfect assesment Porsche. I thought with that much time left in the game, Fox should have just kicked the extra point. Penalties killed the Cats. Also their defensive secondary did not show up as well as in recent weeks. That could have just been an indication how talented the Pats wide receivers are.

Rarely does one play or player decide the game. Kasay was just the unlucky schmo who blew it with less than a minute to go in the game.
If Vinateri hits both field goals earlier, it's a different game. If Brady doesn't throw a pick in the end zone, it's a different game. If Fox kicks the extra point instead of going for 2, it's a different game... A play in the 1st quarter is just as important as a play in the 4th, but Kasay had everyone watching because the game was on the line. The Panthers D gets the least valuable. They rarely proved that they could stop the Patriots, putting the game in Kasay's hands at the end. They put the team in the position that one little mistake could cost them the game.

It sounds good right now to blame the 2 point conversions, but at that point in the game getting a PAT would have gotten them within 4. What good does that do? With a 4 or 5 point differential, you still have to get a TD. If you make the 2pts, then you are within 3 and you can tie with a FG. It seemed like a reasonable decision... unless you are looking back on it with all the information we have now.
