Well... Shaq missed a lot of the games with his bad back... so I agree that Yao gets the start...

Francis on the other hand.. hasnt been having his best year... Cassell, Payton, among others come to mind...

Vince Carter is also a joke, and a soft pussy. LeBron James is a better basketball player, and the numbers don't lie.

I hope Boozer makes the All Star team. He's the most underrated power forward in the East, and only one of two guys in the East averaging a double double. The other is Jermaine O'Neal.

As stated in another thread the All-Star team is a freaking populartiy contest which is unfortuante to deserving players having a great year. The only hope comes when the reserves are voted in by the coaches.

If Kidd and Marbury dont make it as reserves....the system failed.

I do agree with the popularity contest, Vince Carter # 1 vote getter? huh? please do not get me wrong, Vince Carter = Stud, I would take him on my team, I would pick him in the school yard, but.....Who do I take to build a team around? Shaq, triple team him he is not stopped, yes he does not shoot free throws, but he makes up for that everywhere else.
Garnett, carreer year and deserving to be there.

How about the NBA has gone down.

I tried watching the Kings versus the Mavs the other night and I watched as a player got the ball took 3 steps and made a basket and no traveling was called.

Then later that night I watched a James highlight and he took 3 1/2 steps to dunk. I mean people are right...he fits right in with the NBA and nothing being called.

Tis a piss poor product they put out and I could really care less about it.

This isn't the All-NBA team. Use that if you want talent-determined awards. Fans have, and should have, no responsibility to choose the very "best" players. They should pick who they most want to see. And try to pick guys who can actually play in the game.

Then why do the fans, who now nothing, vote for Vince Carter last year to start. He had the most votes last year, and was hurt. He gets hurt more than anyone, and was voted in again this year. His stats have gone down more and more the past few years. He plays with no heart. If fans voted by stats Paul Pierce or LeBron should have been voted in over Vince, but the problem is the average fan knows nothing about basketball, and unfortunately they do get to vote who they want to see.

Fans do know nothing, it's just based off popularity. Sam Cassell easily one of the best PG's if not the best in the west probably won't make the game, which is a shame. I don't like VC at all, he's always injured but he is apparently the most "popular". That's how Alonzo Mourning ends up with the 2nd most votes for a center in the East, while Jamaal Magloire is probably the second best.

i agree. sam is a hell of a basketball player. but it goes back to what your saying, with the all star game, its all about popularity. and it doesnt matter how good sam cassell plays, because with his ugly ass...hell never play an all star game.

I agree about Carter being soft. The times Ive watched him play Ive been unimpressed. So inconsistent. He'll make an effortless looking 3, then the next time down the floor clank it off the back of the rim from 15, then make another great shot, then throw up an airball. Plus he disappears during the playoffs, the few times theyve been. Same thing with Christie on Sacramento. Somebody must know something about these guys that we dont, cuz I dont see it. And Yao Ming, please..I think the Chinese govt must have written it into his contract before they would release him to the nba...

Yes, they must have written it into his contract. It's a popularity contest for God's sake. And Yao actually got more "paper" votes than Shaq, which were only given out in the US/Canada, while Shaq got more online votes, which is worldwide, so Shaq is an idiot for saying "China has 2 billion people" when he actually won the online vote.
