2 - Mike Tyson 3 - Muhammad Ali 4 - Jack Johnson 5 - Rocky Marciano 6 - Sonny Liston 7 - Jack Dempsey 8 - Joe Louis 9 - Larry Holmes 10 - Joe Frazier |
i dont know about in that particular order... its really hard to tell...
|
I'm far from being a boxing expert but Tyson just isn't No. 2 as much as I love watching him fight.
My attempt at a list: 1. Muhammad Ali 2. Joe Louis 3. George Foreman 4. Rocky Marciano 5. Joe Frazier 6. Lennox Lewis 7. Larry Holmes 8. Evander Holyfield 9. Sonny Liston 10. Mike Tyson |
You really need to ignore the last like 5 tyson fights
Early career Tyson is possibly the best fighter in boxing, he was so damned good too bad he's a psycho.... I rank him #2 behind Ali as # 1 IMO anyway |

Lennox Lewis beat Tyson's ass when they were kids too. They sparred together, and after Tyson stunned Lewis at first, Lewis handed it to him by keeping Tyson at bay with his reach.
Sorry, but there's no way Tyson is better than Lewis. Sure is more fun to watch though. |
If Tyson hadnt have gone nuts, I think he would have been in the top 3 for sure.
|
In his prime, Tyson couldnt be touched. I think he's the best heavyweight boxer ever.....
|
Who did he beat, in hindsight, that was well respected?
Do you watch boxing? Name one analyst that thinks Tyson is better than Lewis. Lewis is OLDER, for christs sake! Lewis has reach on tyson. Tyson never could get in on him, though he would have made it look prettier had he been able to stay in shape and focused. Neither is invincible, as both were schooled in their prime. Rachman, Douglas. If you think Tyson is the best heavyweight ever, then you don't watch a lot of boxing. Roy Jones would beat Iron Mike right now, and he's not even a true heavyweight. |
Many respected boxing historians give Tyson his deserved respect....however, they insist that Tyson is a modern-day Sonny Liston. Incredibly powerful and destructive and can plow through opponents.
Then look what Ali did to Liston. Tyson was a monster and he deserves to be in the top 10, but he shouldn't be in the top 3. If you're talking about the greatest knockout artists, he's probably #1....greatest of all time??? Cassius Clay |
Ali then Tyson. The rest fall where they may. I dont consider records or demise(s). This is Greatness...Ali because of his personality and deliverance as well as THE ROPE-A-DOPE.
Tyson..its like Shaq ONeal. During his pretty lengthy prime..HE ATE HIS COMPETITORS (no pun intended). Hands down. |

I know Jones is down... I just think that tyson is so slow that its not even funny anymore.
|
... and Jones looked allright as a heavyweight.
|
that's a tough one. i'll get back to you on this one
|
Ill agree with the above list... there might be a little shuffle in the list... but it seems pretty good
|
lmao....Lewis? Didn't he get knocked around like a doughboy his last fight? His second fight with holyfield he was like a wet towel draped over holyfield...and they gave him a draw! that 82 inch reach keeps him out of trouble...thats for sure.

Ali, Louis, Dempsey, Marciano....
Any list of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history that doesn't start with these names, in some order, is severely flawed. Frazier, Foreman, and Holmes, along with Ali, may, indeed, make up the greatest generation of heavyweights ever. It's difficult to include Tyson, when he could have achieved so much more, had he not imploded. Holyfield and Lewis have been dominant, but the division has been quite weak. Liston doesn't belong here at all. Just a grumps' opinion! |
Not a big enough fan to be able to make a list but if Foreman comes out of retirement again (as I just heard he's thinking about) and regains the title he would be at the top without a doubt for me. If he doesn't, he's still within the top 3 for me.
|
i would just like to amend the top ten i mentioned eariler...
1. Muhammad Ali 2. Joe Louis 3. Rocky Marciano 4. George Foreman 5. Joe Frazier 6. Lennox Lewis 7. Jack Dempsey 8. Mike Tyson 9. Sonny Liston 10. Evander Holyfield thought i should reorder that list... Tyson really was fantastic at his prime. even though he's slipped a very long way, he does deserve a higher rank than 10th. i also had Foreman above Marciano. figured that needed swapping. as for Roy Jones, well he's a sensational fighter, but lets just leave him as the greatest light heavyweight. a Tyson vs Jones fight would be great to watch. i'd put my cash on Jones. |
Hey guys you missed ROCKY BALBOA!!!!!!!! HAHAHAH AHAHAHA HAHAHAH AAHAHAHAHAHAHA
