NBA All-Star game

Why do we even have this thing? It is obvious that people with no basketball knowledge other than the coachs whoi pick the reserves have any clue in picking these guys. Deserving players aren't getting the nods, it is just a popularity contest, look at it...Vince Carter is leading the voting and he has hardley played this year...again. Maybe I making more of an issue out if it but I used to think the making the All-Star team meant something. Now it means that the player has shown some litttle flash and the little kids think that they are good. Vince Cater sucks.

The_Dude 01-14-2004 12:08 AM

vince carter hasnt played this year?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3248/gamelog

check out his stats man!

he didnt play much last year.

sixate 01-14-2004 03:23 PM

Unfortunately, the game is for the fans. The problem is the fans love the high flying dunkers. Carter is great at that, but a real fan of hoops knows that he has no heart and makes nobody on his team better. He's soft and extremely over-rated. A guy with his physical ability should be the best player in the league. As far as I'm concerned, he's not even a top 20 player in the league. LeBron James is a better player than Carter right now.

BTW, Vince has played plenty this year.

thephuse 01-14-2004 04:28 PM

lol... Mourning is up there in the East voting ahhaa. and Pippen is too.. that is just TOO funny..

Like when Magic came out of RETIREMENT to play ..

The_Dude 01-14-2004 05:39 PM

i just voted and it lists lafrentz as a maverick. hehe.

aswo 01-14-2004 11:19 PM

Honestly not to be a jerk but who cares? Its not all star games matter anyway

jay-g 01-15-2004 02:44 AM

Like sixate said, the all star game is for the fans. Also its a break for the players to have fun and relax with their piers. As for VC, he does have game. Just think with his elevation, if he worked on a fade away shot like Jordan. Who could block and stop that?

manumanu 01-15-2004 06:57 AM

why are pippen and toni kukoc up there in terms of votes? thats pathetic.

jeremylafave 01-23-2004 01:42 AM

fuck.....pippen?no hes a ugly son of a bitch! im tired of those old ass people still in the all star games. i think lebron(if he goes)or iverson will be the dominant players!and for the comment about vince carter...hes only played a few games this season cuz hes a fucken baby..he needs to stay on the bench if he isnt gonna be out there winning them some games...so my vote would be for him to fuck himself! jeremy

NoseyJoe 01-24-2004 08:58 PM

its true, there are many deserving players that, because of the voting system, don't get in. I dont like it one bit.

89transam 01-25-2004 07:50 PM

They should make it USA Vs the world.

Bookman 01-26-2004 05:52 AM

The All Star game is for the fans.
It is great to see the talent on one court and sometimes (one out of 4 years) the game is exciting come 4th Quarter.

I would love to see that in the NBA as well as Major League Baseball.

Locke 01-26-2004 08:01 PM

If it were based on actual skill Sam casell would definitely be going this year. With the lack of talent in the east (compared to the west) you can see how pippen would be getting any votes. it probably helps that he is back in Chicago and sentimentalists are voting.

Mojo_PeiPei 01-26-2004 09:05 PM

Look for Sam Cassell to be a starter for the West.

Locke 01-27-2004 01:14 PM

excellent!!!

Hrothgar 01-27-2004 01:20 PM

I'd rather watch an And1 mix tape. It's the same shit really. High flying dunks and no Defense.

Bigt6909 02-04-2004 06:11 PM

I think that the all-star game will be exciting ... it just about seeing all of the great players play all at the same time... that's what it's all about

NoseyJoe 02-04-2004 10:05 PM

Its a good idea for baseball, but USA vs World would not play that well for the NBA, its a lot more lopsided.

powerclown 02-04-2004 10:35 PM

order of toleration:

Needles in Eyes....relatively tolerable
NHL All-Star Game....barely tolerable
MLB All-Star Game....hardly tolerable
NBA All-Star Game....intolerable
NFL All-Star Game....banal

Mojo_PeiPei 02-04-2004 10:37 PM

NBA has had some pretty good allstar games as of late, just look at last years.

jasonresno 02-05-2004 05:24 AM

Why does Vince Carter continualy make the All Star game? Seriously..how many games has he actually played this season?

Mojo_PeiPei 02-05-2004 08:06 AM

Vince Carter has played in 44 games and his stat line consists of 21.1ppg 1 blk 1 stl 5 assists and 5 boards. Not to mention he is a very flashy player, which the fans who vote the starters like to see.

Why ask questions you already know the answer to? First off, he basically carries the raptors, less now than he did, but he still puts up 20+ points a game, not to mention he's a fun and exciting guy to watch. He'd might be an alt if it were up to the coaches, maybe. He's played a lot of games this season... true, other players should have more votes, but since when does anything in america make sense? Besides, he has all of canada voting for him :P

Nimbletoe 02-05-2004 11:42 AM

Oh, and LeBron got gyped.

jasonresno 02-05-2004 02:29 PM

Yeah he did..

Bigt6909 02-06-2004 08:02 AM

I think that both Lebron and Melo need to pay their dues... so to speak... granted I think that both players are damn good and they make their teams a hell of a lot better, but they're rookies... and god knows they will be on the all star teams from next season til the end of their careers...

renaldorick 02-06-2004 09:00 AM

my question

is why no Lebron? he's averaging like 20 and 7.
crazy...

should he have made it?

Mojo_PeiPei 02-06-2004 11:03 AM

There were many deserving people this year, especially 2nd or 3rd year players that got left out last year. I think thats why they didn't give it to Bron Bron.

Well that is very true, and some guys deserve it more this year (Redd for example).

Jephree 02-08-2004 07:53 PM

I'll be there!!!

jasonresno 02-09-2004 06:31 PM

What do you mean? You'll actually be there?
