I used to hope and think as a yankee fan that it would have an NY on it.. with all the stuff Roger said about how he wanted in as a Yankee.. But after his move to the astros.. how can he go in as anything other than a Redsox?

He will go in as a Red Sock, and neither he nor Sox fans will like it one bit.
At least Rafael Palmiero has said who he wants to go in as...an Oriole.

I heard him say last year that unless all the teams that he played for stopped bitching about what hat he will wear in the hall, he would go in a Longhorn hat.

Not a fan of him, don't give a crap regardless because he is old, but I think he should have a Red Sox cap on.

13 years of service versus 6 years of service.
I want him in as a Red Sox. It is not entirely his fault about the way he left. BTW it is being said that his kids gave him a Christmas gift of an Astros hat. If that does not make you want to come back and pitch so your family can see a lot of games up close and personal than nothing will. I met Roger a few times. My cousin dated his cousin and whenever he came to Detroit we would get to see him. Very nice guy. Art |

It'll just be good to see him inducted regardless of his hat. The guy is a great ball player. As far as him being a traitor and two faced, that's kinda ridiculous wouldn't ya say. It's not like he left the Yankees to be on a winning team....(sorry Astros fans, but ya know where I'm coming from)....The American team isn't going to the Olympics..AND he lives in Houston. Of course he is going to play another year, who would turn down 5 million dollars to play, what, like 20 games? I don't know...I belong in a different thread I think.

Its not the fact that he went to the astros.. If he had said last year, that he wanted to pitch in his home town, and be closer with his family, I would said "WHAT A GREAT GUY" and I still think that to a degree.. what peeves me a bit is that he made all that ado about retiring, essentially tricked us yankee fans that loved him for 6 years. Not to mention all the hulabaloo he brought by announcing that this would be his last year, recieving hails from baseball fans around the country.
Making bold statements like "If I'm near a baseball field next year, it'll be as a fan with my family" And somehow its the Yankees' fault for not giving Pettitte "respect" What respect does he want? Yankee fans loved him, NY loved him... for 9 years he was the Yankees' foundation. Obviously, by respect, he means a good lucrative offer.

Personally I dont think it was all that much of Pettitte's fault - the Boss always seemed on the verge of letting him go anyways.
Only Clemens can really claim he was liked by the Boss of the rotation last year and thats really where I can see a sense of betrayl. As for HOF cap - I would say Red Sox now but then again many fans don't want that. The HOF gets the final decision on it anyways IIRC (it was to stop a controversy over who Winfield who go in with and Boggs as well when he tried to buy a way in as a D-Ray). |

C'mon guys, Isn't it every kids dream to pitch, play hockey, basketball or whatever for your hometown? Give these guys a break! Believe me, I hate Rocket, but I give him credit. I believe he'll wear an Astro's hat in the Hall, and I won't fault him for it!
