TFP Week Two NFL Playoffs Tournament
What a wild and crazy ride this week has been. There have been some changes made, so pay attention. First and foremost, Rogue49 has left the TFP. I am sure I speak for all involved in saying that you will be missed. (There is a thread in the Members Playground if you want to comment on his departure. Let's try to leave this thread just for the football.) He will no longer be the Mod who closes the thread. I have contacted spectre and (UPDATE)he has accepted the thread closing responsibility.
Second, the order of the tiebreakers has changed for week two. After reviewing the games and how the tiebreakers ended up, a change seem to be in order. Third, due to the generosity of GOV135, BonesCPA (me) has been allowed to continue in the playoffs, even though GOV135 had won. Finally, after reviewing the Sion's grid, I noticed we needed to adjust the order of the matchups. In a playoff grid, similar to the NCAA Basketball playoffs, assuming the highest seed always wins, the 1 team would play team 16 in week one, 8 in week two, 4 in week three, and 2 in the finals. I have adjusted the seedings accordingly. Also, the tiebreakers for weeks 3 and 4 will change, since the numbers of teams will decrease after this week. More to follow on this. So if there are no questions..... |
The tournament is a single elimination format. Therefore, no one should have an advantage heading into the playoffs. Anyone in the tournament can win. Here are the match ups for the second week:
1. spartak vs. 9. minx 2. Sion vs. 10. crfpilot 3. BonesCPA vs.bye (rogue49) 4. present_future vs. 5. steelerz The games will be picked on winner of each game. The tiebreakers have changed since the regular season, and also since week one, so please read them carefully: First Tiebreaker: Highest scoring team of the weekend. You have eight teams to choose from in weeks one and two. Team name is needed. Second Tiebreaker: Lowest scoring team of the weekend. Team name is needed. Third Tiebreaker: Total points of all games played on the weekend. Weeks one and two have four games (eight teams) being played. All points of all teams playing is the last number. Closest without going over. If both go over, then the closest. Spectre will close the thread the morning of the first playoff game each week. If you do not have your pick in by the time the thread closes, your opponent will automatically win. (Do not complain if Spectre closes the thread at 12:01 am.) At this point, there is no officially prize other than bragging rights until the first week of the next football season. Finally, since there is the possibility of "unsportsmanlike" picking (matching your opponents picks and just changing the tiebreaker amounts, etc.), we trust in your honesty and sportsmanship in this endeavor. Good luck to all those playing!
