Dick Jauron sacked

A little harsh? There is only so much you can do if your players aren't good enough.

Agreed.. the scary thing is that Angelo was given a long extension at the same time. From a coaching perspective I think John Shoop had a lot more to do with the crappiness of this team than Jauron did.. that being said, Angelo hasn't necessarily done the Bears a lot of favors the last couple of years in the draft (see : McNown, Cade).

The players were good enough. There were a lot of close games. Jauron deserved to be fired because he wouldn't get rid of offensive coordinator John Shoop. His unimaginative and usually idiotic play calling (throwing for 3 yards on third and fifteen for example) cost the Bears too often. With Jauron gone, Shoop will be gone and that's addition by subtraction.

I agree about Angelo, not sure if he isn't as much of a probelm as Jauron. Also he stated that he will retain control over player personnel. Not sure how many top line coaches will want to come to the Bears knowing they will not have final say on players.

The Bears were not even close to ready to start the season this year. That is Jauron's fault. They didn't start playing decent until they were already out of it. I think Jauron's a capable guy, but no tone to rebuild a team. I hope they can bring in someone that can kick some ass and turn the team around, but without complete control over the players, I'm not sure they will fare any better than a Jauron caliber coach.

Shoop should have been launched long before this. Damn, the drive at the end of the first half was pitiful. Absolutely horrendous.

I liked Jauron and he turned things around enough this year to get a chance, but whose the idiot who wouldn' start Rex Grossmen earlier in the season?

I hope the Lions bring him back to be a def. coordinator.

The same "idiot" that started Cade McNown early and was blamed for his failure to become an NFL Quarterback.

I think he was a great coach. Look at the talent he had? Kordell Stewart? Anthony Thomas? No recievers at all after they lose Robinson. He got a raw deal...
