Anyone else here try out for ESPN Dream Job?
Well, in case you haven't seen or heard the ads all over the place, ESPN is doind a nationwide search for the next SportsCenter anchor. They will broadcast a show in February called "Dream Job" with 10 contestants competing in Sportscenter-like "tasks" and a combination of judges and America will vote. Think "American Idol" meets "Real World" (because I think they're all living in the same house).
Anyway, in September, I went to the New York tryouts. 1,000 people ended up coming that day. I was relatively early, my form # was 103, I think. I had to take a tough written test, then partcipate in a group discussion on various topics, then they told me I made first cut! I met Jeremy Schapp and Stu Scott, and filled out a 7-page application. The next day I went back, as instructed, and had to read in front of a camera an exact script that had been used on a SportsCenter from that week. I guess this is what did me in, though, because I got a "we'll call you" from them shortly thereafter.
All in all, it was a lot of fun and a great experience.
Anyone else give it a shot? How did yours go?
