NHL Allstar Game
I think that its really stupid that on the NHL allstar ballots that Rick Nash is left out. Hes tied ofr the lead in goals for the season. And plus they have Geoff Sanderson, Andrew Cassels on there instead. They both aren't doing anything this season. That whole team is Rick Nash. I think that there are some other notables left out but Rick Nash is the one I'm going to vouche for. Anyways you can give your Allstar picks if you want. Plus you might want to leave the Legendary team as well.
I picked Western Conference G- Chris Osgood (St.Louis) D- Chris Pronger (St.Louis) D- Nicklas Lidstrom (Detroit) RW- Todd Bertuzzi (Vancouver) LW- Zigmund Palffy (L.A.) C- Pavol Demitra (St.Louis) Eastern Conference G- Martin Brodeur (New Jersey) D- Scott Niedermayer (New Jersey) D- Eric Desjardins (Philedelphia) RW- Daniel Alfredsson (Ottawa) LW- Ilya Kovalchuk (Atlanta) C- Vincent Lecavalier (Tampa Bay) Legendary Game G- Patrick Roy (MTL/COL) D- Bobby Orr (BOS) D- Ray Bourque (BOS/COL) RW- Gordie Howe (DET/HFD) LW- Bobby Hull (CHI) C- Wayne Gretzky (EDM/L.A./NYR) Thats all I've got here the link to the allstart voting http://www.nhl.com/allstar2004/index.html |
I think the ballots are put together at the beginning of the season. There are several names listed that either haven't played yet this year, have been injured most of the year or are with a different team.
If that's the case then Rick Nash hasn't exactly been a household name before now. Who would have guessed he would do this well especially after only scoring 39 points and being a -27 in 74 games last year. It's strange that the don't have a write in slot for non listed players though. |
They do have a write in slot, just that its really hard to get a write in to win..
|
The ballot is a little lame this year. Hatcher?!?! Plays 4 games and makes the ballot. Comrie?!?! They must really think that his hold out is impressive. ect, ect, ect...
I really wish they could make the old 2 players from each team, picked by that team, work. It just seems more fair that way, and the guys who really deserve it get to go. Some fans are fair weather at best, and tend to vote for names, not actual performances. |
Yeah, hatcher and mario aren't going to be avalible to play so they should pull them... Stick in some people that deserve it so far this year.
|
oh yeah, here are my pics:
Western: Brett Hull Marcus Naslund Steve Yzerman (for performance and sentimental reasons) Nicklas Lidstrom (of coarse, gotta vote the namesake :)) Chris Pronger (as much as I hate to do it) Sean Burke Eastern: Marian Hossa Ilya Kovalchuk (i thought for sure he was toast without Heatley) Robert Lang (Playing like a champ on a chump team) Brian Leetch Wade Redden Martin Brodeur (If it weren't for him, the Devils would stink on ice) The only write in I would make would be C Pavel Datsyuk, since he has been a rock for Detroit this year. But if this is to be Stevie's last year, his contribution to hockey and his performance this year earn him the right to play in the All-Star game. |
Here are my Picks
Western: Zigmund Palffy Markus Naslund Peter Forsberg (I know he's injured, but when he did play, he was the best player in the NHL) Rob Blake Chris Pronger Chris Osgood Eastern: Marian Hossa Ilya Kovalchuk Robert Lang Sergei Gonchar Wade Redden Martin Brodeur For the write-in, i put in David Aebischer, who should have definitely been on the ballot. I also think Jeff Hackett should have been on there in addition to the guys already mentioned, Nash and Datsyuk, though I wouldn't have voted them in over the guys i picked. |

The original roster may very well be star studded, but the Red Wings are now without 10 of their starters, and Datsyuk is still scoring at a great pace. He just got 2goals and 1assist tonight playing with Draper and Hull. He plays the PK, the PP (hell, he & Hull are the PP), 5 on 5 , 4 on 4, and is great at all of them. Whether he gets recognized or not, he deserves to be out there just as much as anyone on that ballot.
current Red Wing injuries: Steve Yzerman Tomas Holmstrom Steve Thomas Chris Chelios Darian Hatcher Dominik Hasek Manny Legace Henrek Zetterberg Ray Whitney Darren McCarty |
I'm suprised people haven't picked roloson.. He is the best goalie stat wise in the western confrence.. Yet he is at the bottom of the picks so far goalie wise.
|
Also, the fact that usually the hosting team gets at least one person on just for good measuere as stated on espn.com they should most likely pick Roloson as western conference rep for MN
|
Yeah i'm sure he will get in that way. But he should definatly be up near the top in the starting spot on the voting. Only reasonw hy he is not is because the team has no offence and can't win..

I have noticed that many people don't really like to vote for the legends game. I'd watch that game instead of the allstar game.
