Army hires Solich from Nebraska...
per ESPN Radio in NYC. If I find a story I will link it. It is a good hire for Army I think.

Yes, it is a good hire. I personally would love to see Nebraska suffer many losing seasons just to hear Trev Alberts cry some more!!

I knew Solich wouldn't stay unemployed long. I'm just surprised that it took a whole week for someone to hire him.

I see Charlie Taffe might get an interview. He's done a great job at Maryland running Fridge's offense, and has managed to make the most out of a couple average QBs and below-average receivers.

Damn.
Army needs something. The past 6 seasons have produced only 15 victories. They were 10-1 (against a very weak schedule) in 1996 and haven't approached .500 since. |
Especially considering Navy is being turned around.
The fact is though, from what I know Army hasn't had a great team since the late '40s. They only had those because of the quality of the people going into the Military Acadamy for WWII. |
Is Solich waiting for some interest from some of the major Colleges, or maybe NFL?

Well, Army isn't exactly the best program for him to take over. He would much rather take over a program that is halfway decent, not a program that has difficulty recruiting.

Can army even recruit? The kids have to have such amazing grades, leadership, volunteer etc that its nearly impossible for the average joe football player to get in!

Solich would never be able to do much with Army because they can't get the recruits as it is

Yeah the armed forces don't offer scholarships for sports.
I mean airforce is doing pretty good, and it is always fun to watch them play with their option. Navy is doing really good, I don't see why army is so bad. I don't see why Army is so bad. |
