Salary Dump! I feel sorry for all Pittsburgh fans out there because they're getting the fair treatment they deserve from the management. They're paying an NHL price to watch an AHL team. *sigh*
Poor Fleury too. His record is something like 3-8-2 with a 3.03GAA and a .866 save %.

Lemieux needs to defer his isanely high 6mil so they can use it to get someone who has actually played in the NHL before this year. Maybe even someone who is, dare I say it, good?!?!?!? Christ, Lang is only making 5mil and he is kicking ass playing on a a crap team.

The penguins are on the outs; I predict in a few years that Pittsburgh will be gone. I love the penguins but seriously they are dumping every worth while player and I think that Mario is the only player thats going to be left.

Yep. At this point they just have an ahl team with a few veterans... it's sad to see it happen, but as streak said, it's basically inevitable.
Edit: Oops, didn't notice someone else mentioned the AHL equivilant of Pittsburgh.

Don't you think that's doing a disservice to the AHL? I think a QMJHL team could beat the Pens right now. The league needs to do something and fast if Pittsburgh is gonna survive. How did this team go from being the Stanley Cup Champions 10 years ago to being on the verge of exiting the league? Christ, this is bad.

I was going to say at least they aren't the Capitols, but with Washington's win tonight, they passed the Pens in points. And how can you count a guy who has only played a handfull of games this season and draws the highest paycheck of anyone on the team (a.k.a. Lemieux) an asset?

It really hurts to see The Pens struggle like this. What hurts even more is that Ottawa gave Straka back to Pittsburgh. He's been underrated his whole career.
(edit: I just found out Straka was in Florida before going back to Pittsburgh, but I still think he's underrated) |
