T.J. Ford--next stop?
After originally saying he would return to Texas for another year, T.J. Ford reportedly will announce that he's entering the NBA Draft.
Is this a smart move for him, or could he use another season at the college level? More importantly, is The_Dude going to be okay? ![]() |

i think there's no question he's ready. I see him going top 5, top 10 at the lowest.
I don't think The Dude is gonna be okay. The Longhorns will have some talent, but they're gonna miss Ford alot. He led the team in almost every category, not to mention his leadership. |

Hail Citizens!
If you are projected to go in the top ten in the first round you pretty much have to enter the draft. You can work on your game after you sign the guaranteed lucrative contract a pick that high is given. How can anyone say no to 1-4 million dollars a year for at least three years with a guaranteed 20% bonus each year. If only I could convince my employer that I require a signing bonus, per diem AND a guaranteed big fat bonus. I can almost hear the laughing now. I, too, am a Longhorn fan and fear they will suffer greatly in his absence. |

The NBA draft has three blue-chip prospects:
James, Anthony, and that teenage Brazilian monster center. After that, its kinda need based. I could see Ford falling out of the top ten, but he'll be a lottery pick. Its the right thing for him to do to leave. Next stop - well the lottery day is coming. If the Cavs fall out of the top three - he could go to Cleveland, who has Milt Palacio at the point.... |

i'm almost at the edge of suicide!
i've had grand plans for UT b-ball next yr, i was going to get the all season pass, buy a whole bunch of orange and white shirts and attend every home game! but now........... still, they have every other starter + almost the whole bench coming back for the next season. but we're goin to miss the playmaker! i'm SAD i'm optimistic though, i really remember him saying that he'll be back "110%" for the next yr, and he does to us now? why god why? why? why? i'm still hoping that he wont go. he's said to make the decision in a press conference tomorrow, and i'm not going to school tomorrow (cuz the underclassmen are taking TAKS test, so i'll be in front of the tv)!

The_Dude,
I started this thread with you in mind. I remember your early optimism about next year. For your sake, I hope the reports are untrue and Ford shocks the world by announcing that he loved the Final 4 journey so much that he's coming back for another try. I doubt it, but I hope that for your sake. If you need to talk...we're here!!!

I am also a Longhorn fan and Austinite and my biggest question after the season ended was, how was TJ the best player in college basketball this year? I watched nearly all of there games and yes, he is a good player but hardly the best. If he never gets a J he'll never get off the pine. His defense was also lacking and whenever he made the effort to play defense his offensive suffered and he got tired quickly. I just don't see him fitting in on any NBA lottery team and being able to make a impact. He really needs another year of schooling, work on that college 3. All other aspects of his game are there but at 5'10" I'm not sure it's going to matter.
I do agree with a lot of you guys though, if he's predicted to go in the first 10 picks, then you should go. Pay for your college education if you're intent on getting a degree. I wish him luck and all but I'm just not convinced he'll do much at the next level. |

god damn it, he left.
screw it. the thing i liked about him was the playmaker in him. he gets a whole bunch of assists in a game, and he brings a certain level of excitement to the field.

so sorry about your sad luck UT ( annd the_Dude) as for my Warriors (goldeagles)...
the guy had to do it though... it's a slack draft year past number three, and the money is too good to let slide.. while i wish Carmelo could have risked another year ('Cuse dynasty).. neither Ford nor Wade is going to amount to much in the NBA.. but you gotta take the change. |
