Do we have any sports gamblers here?
I am new here, and wondered if there are many gamblers on this site. What do you play, and do you use a local, or a sportsbook?
I think we could do a weekly thread about what games we like and what inside info we have. (hopefully this hasn't been discussed to much) |

I used to bet a lot online. I used to use MVP Sportsbook and another one whose name escapes me right now.
I bet a lot on college basketball and NFL. Those were my bread and butters. I had some really good weeks, that basically helped pay for my books and such in college.

I quit because both site stopped accepting paypal as a forms of payment. So I was stuck with other things like wire transfers and firepay, and just didn't feel like going through that trouble anymore.

I bet every week on NFL, when there is no NFL I prefer Soccer.
I usually get only a parlay(3-5 teams) by week, but if I win I bet on MNF. I don't like to bet over/under I prefer choose the winner. This week these were my picks: Eagles (+1.5) -> OK Patriots (+4) -> OK Seahawks (-6.5)-> OK Redskins (pick) -> Fuck I lost $30, but this season I am doing pretty good. Maybe these are going to be my picks for week 14 Eagles (-5.5) Saints (-1) Broncos (-2) Packers (-7)

I don't do any online betting but I play Sports Select regularly and do well enough to keep me going. Last two tickets were bummers though - picked five hockey games on Sat and had them all but the Vancouver/Calgary tie (grr) and, as always, played a nfl ticket but that one got screwed over by the Indy loss to NE. That would have been a nice one so I was a little irked. I like my betting but I keep it to a dull roar....only a few tickets each week.
(Oh..and a little horse betting but only when I'm right there at the track!)

In New Zealand there are Government run gamling parlours known as "TABs" (pronounced Tee Aye Bees). Every so often I wager some money on the outcome of certain sporting events.
I gamble on mostly soccer, sometimes I get lucky ($100 off a 10-1 that AC Milan would win the Chamions League), sometimes I get burned (lost $20 on Man U paying 3-1 to beat Chelsea, damn you Joe Cole). Rugby is worth a wager sometimes, but head-to-head odds are very low, and so I have to resort to the riskier "margin of victory" option. Oh yeah, I also lost a lot on the Superbowl last January, damn you Bucs! And I was actually thinking of putting some money on Alstott scoring the first TD (paying 7.5-1) but didn't want to spend any more money. And when nothing good is on, the NBA is worth a somewhat risky wager, I had some money on a Spurs/Magic game last season I think, and I just got home in time to see it, I tell you what it was edge of the seat stuff, the Spurs ended up winning by 1 point because the Magic couldn't hit about 4 2-pointers. The best insider knowledge I can think of, is watch out for International soccer friendlies and bet heavily on the underdog, as the "favourite" will probably be fielding an experimental side, and the "underdog" will be hungry to rip it to shreds. Perfect example of this was Australia 3-0 over England, Denmark 3-2 over England, and Poland 3-1 over Italy. No, I don't have a gambling problem ![]()

I bet with BoDog online. Also have some friends in Vegas which I use to play some open ticket parlays. I bet a little in all the major sports except hockey. I really like college football. I might have to look into soccer after reading the last post though.

I used to be fairly heavily ($2000 or so per week, around $200-$300/game). I had good years and bad years. In the long haul though I won a bit. What I found was that gambling took away from my enjoyment of the game and since I'm making very good money now, I don't really need the extra income. I quit earlier this football season with no regrets since I started bad and never really caught up. I used an offshore betting service that I have used for the last 5 years (SBC global). I had as much as $15,000 with them at any one time, and they never failed to pay me back the next day (with no fees).
