First chess, now this?
I don't know if anybody except me is watching this but right now they're playing Scrabble on ESPN2. I don't think board games that you play on Friday family night counts as a sport. What next, Monopoply?
|
hey, they play poker on espn too, thats just as small a game... at least scrabble is more intelligent, poker is all intuitive.
|
Poker is harder than Scrabble, you need to play the odds, not give away a tell, and bet the right amount at the right time.
Besides, at least Poker is entertaining. |
I drooled over the chess coverage. Sure it was probably boring/out-of-place for those who don't play chess, but for those of us who do it was great. Candid commentary from Grandmasters from all over the world, live in-game strategies, you name it....its about time they started covering this on any channel whether it be ESPN2 or not.
Didn't see scrabble it but I like the idea of these challenging mind games being televised versus the normal run-of-the-mill sports, not that I have a problem with them. |
I enjoyed the chess on ESPN2. I'd rather watch that then the cutting tree stump compititions (not that i haven't watched those at one time or another)
they could have cool tables like http://www.tkcs-collins.com/truman/m...monopoly.shtml if they had monopoly :) |

mind you, neither are as exciting as the wood-chopping comps... that goppers has mentioned. wood-chopping is unbelievable to watch, especially when champions like dave foster are whacking through trees in about three hits... do they still televise bass fishing competitions in the States? now that sounds boring... |
I seen this myself and was wondering if ESPN didn't have anything else to play.
I can just imagine the conversation.... Quote:

Yeah I sawe the scrabble today but I thought it was the high powered cough syrup making me see things, funny I couldn't watch my brain wasn't functioning.
|
I know I might being stretching this but it is a competition, albeit a mental competition, but isn't NASCAR a mental competiton...
