Which NFL Quaterback has played with the most teams

We are trying to find out which Quaterback has played for the most teams. We Know Rick Mirer has played for Five, sorry, does anyone know anyone that has played for more? Thanks in advance. Six By Bubby Brister and Steve Deberg. Chris Chandler 7

Redlemon 11-17-2003 03:54 PM

My first guess would be Flutie, seems like he's been everywhere. Just a random guess, however.

(nope, only 4, but perhaps if you count Canadiean league...)

J.R.V.A. 11-17-2003 03:56 PM

Yea, we thought of flutie, but we are only counting NFL
Thanks

I would say Jeff George.

AL9045 11-17-2003 04:23 PM

Blake has 5 teams in 11 years.

spectre 11-17-2003 05:11 PM

Maddox played for at least seven teams if you include arena and XFL.

The_Dude 11-17-2003 05:23 PM

Ferrote has played for 5 teams. i'm guessing this is the most for a currently playing qb.

I would have said Jeff George too. But after further review the call on the field is overturned because he only played for 5 different teams ( ind, atl, oak, min, was).

BulletCatcher 11-17-2003 06:02 PM

Steve Beuerline has played for 6 teams in 17 years.

Ty Detmer - 5 teams in 12 years

Chris Chandler - 7 teams in 16 years

bond007 11-17-2003 07:29 PM

I think Chandler takes the honor.

honorable mention should also go to Rodney Peete (6 teams).

J.R.V.A. 11-17-2003 08:47 PM

I'm thinkin chris Chandler, can anyone beat 7 ?

RoadRage 11-18-2003 11:33 AM

Dave Krieg has six teams under his belt also: Seahawks (80-91), Chiefs (92 & 93), Lions (94), Cardinals (95), Bears (96), and Oilers/Titans (97 & 98). For '97-'99, he was also the QB coach for Steve McNair.

"We are trying to find out which Quaterback has played for the most teams."

are we talking the most EVER, or just currently active or recently retired?

Id bet if you looked back far enough, you'd find someone who played with 8, 9 or even maybe 10 teams.

J.R.V.A. 11-18-2003 02:54 PM

We are looking to find which NFL Quaterback has played with the most teams. Only NFL counts, and including all active and past players. Ever, only NFL though. So Fluties, for example only the times he played for the NFL, CFL does'nt count. Does anyone know of more than seven? Or does anyone know whre I could go to search? Thanks guys, I told all my buddies at work I could find out, Iwas counting on the TFP'ers to give me a hand

BigGov 11-18-2003 07:52 PM

There has to be a guy in the past that played for like 10 teams.

J.R.V.A. 11-19-2003 06:41 AM

Yea, thats what I'm thinking. Any ideas how to find out?

Looks like we are all stumped

edmos1 11-20-2003 02:18 PM

I do not think the past should be too concerned with, free agency is a relativly new addition, and going too far back 1960 and before there were also fewer teams to go to.

perripken 11-20-2003 10:05 PM

I know douchebag Rob Johnson has been with 3 this year alone!

Check this site out for current players, as far as I can see, Chandler is the man.

MontanaXVI 11-21-2003 02:52 PM

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/qbindex.htm

is where i looekd and going down the line i just hit up players who had played 150 or more games obviously you got the elways and marinos who played a high number of games with the same team, but far as i can tell chandler takes the cake with 7 teams in his career

edmos1 11-21-2003 05:08 PM

MontanaXVI that is where I got mine too, I targeted QB I knew bounced around a little and over 100 games, I think it is chandler and Bono, and honerable mention to Deberg...

sorry about Deberg but the way I figure, he was in SF, replaced by Montana, in Denver replaced by Elway, TB, replaced by Young, Miami replaced by Mitchell (Marino was injured) then replaced by Marino. Gotta figure: 1)he really was not that good, or 2)got benched in favor or 4 different hall of famers so he was just on the wrong team always....
