the rest of their schedule is accomplishable (?). if all their key players remain healthy, they should be able to pull it off.

There have only been about 4,932 covers in the history of SI. Lets count the number of times the dreaded SI curse has occured, 50? 100 at most? That works out to about 1-2%.
The curse is a hoax, it's called an upset, they would happen without SI. The fact that SI puts the biggest news story, normally a team or person that is doing well on the cover normally means everyone expects that team to do very well every single time out. When they do, no one cares, when they don't, "IT'S THE SI COVER CURSE!"

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Say the Chiefs make it to the Superbowl, perfect record, and they lose... I'm sure there will be at least 1 or 2 more issues of SI with the Chiefs on the cover, and inevitably people will blame it on the curse... it's silly. Law of averages people... they're bound to lose one sooner or later.
What's really freaky is the EA Sports curse... as in players featured on the cover of their video games have become injured soon after... take Vick on Madden 2004 and Dany Heatley on NHL 2004... both on my beloved ATL teams :-( |
