It's a good thing IMO.
A Philadelphia Inquirer writer wrote an article on it earlier this year, and I will include the porting regarding the NFL below: Quote:

Parity certainly has done away with any sort of dynasty forming. You won't see any more Steeler teams of the 70's, or Packer teams of the 60's, because as soon as the players become skilled enough to win the Super Bowl, they demand too high a price and become cap casualties.
It is entertaining now on Sundays, as any team can beat just about any other team. Perfect example last week with the Jags beating the Colts. I'm enjoying this competition now, but I can see the day come when 30 teams finish 8-8, one team finishes 7-9, and the Super Bowl is won by the team that went 9-7. |

I like parity. I like that any team can win at any time. If it wasn't for that, football would be similar to baseball, almost every year, the team with the biggest budget would win. Upsets would be rare, and if your team didn't have as much to spend on players as another team, it would be a perennial loser.

Parity Sucks.
The league has become so generic now. I DON't like the fact that any team can win. Orginizations should be rewarded for drafting players and developing them. Now you can't keep guys YOU turned into players. The slightly better teams fall back to the pack because of a few injures. Teams have no depth anymore. Todays teams would get blown out by teams from just 10 years ago. It was always exciting to have those elite teams at the top, knowing that if you could beat them you were on your way. A changing of the guard. Dynasties are good. It gives people teams to cheer for and also to cheer against. I grew up hating the 49ers. Now its turned into indifference. Leagues should never punish the organizations that are run properly and reward teams who are mismanaged |
