ACC: Virginia
Big East: Miami
Big 12: Texas
Big 10: Ohio State
C-USA: Cincinnati
PAC-10: Oregon
SEC: Florida

Heisman: Maurice Clarett, Ohio State
Sugar Bowl: Miami

Make them reasonable Northwestern is not going to win the Big 10 this year and Baylor is not going to win the Big 12 this year (or any other year for that matter)

ACC: Virginia - what a great pick. I agree completely, they are young and came together nicely last year. Tons of talent.
Big East: Last time I checked there was only one D1 school in the Big East...
Big 12: Colorado - with darkhorse of Oklahoma State.
Big 10: Ohio State
C-USA: TCU - I like the Cinci pick but that QB needs to get better, I think more INTs then TDs last year? He is exciting though.
Pac 10: UCLA - one of the few schools in the Pac10 that knows what defense is.
SEC: LSU

and for a bonus:

MAC: Central Florida, in only their second year in the league, with one of the best QBs in the nation, has a big year. Or, try Miami University (of Ohio) and big-time QB Ben Rothlesberg(sp.).

Heismen: Clarett
Sugar Bowl: Virginia

Hey jmf1234, stick around for college football season, eh? I like lively debates, and this sports board needs sone life. Oh yeah, Steelers stink. And pick a MAC winner for all to see, you live really close to a great football conference.

I think Roy Williams will win the Heisman. Maurice has to play a full season first.

Secondly OSU will battle Michigan as usual but this year they both could end up undeafed at the end of the year.

I think VT in the Big East will have a big year since they got Vick's little brother playing this year. They could be a year away though.

Virginia is a good choice for the ACC.

I think OU and Texas will be very strong again with Colorado doing there thing.

Pac-10 is that still a conference.. Anyways ASU is my darkhorse to win that conference.

I agree with Miami of Ohio.

Florida or LSU you cannot go wrong but Tenn should bounce back this year.

Notre Dame is going to have an up and down year this year.

Michigan will win it all this year over Texas.

Oh, bubba. You are right, a great program should never be counted out. I think that they may struggle a bit though. Lots of athletes suited for a different style of offense... Perhaps 9 wins? I think they may have trouble making to the conference championship.

I'm assuming your a panthers fan. Which is great, they should be good this year.

I can't stand the NFL's Steelers, but then I'm from Cleveland...

College football: The woeful Ohio University Bobcats and mighty The Ohio State Buckeyes top the list. I follow both the MAC and the Big Ten very closely.

i'm thinking kansas state can get to the champ game if they get ranked high in pre-season polls.

they have an easy as hell season ahead of 'em and could very well go undefeated.

kansas state is goin to win big 12 north
texas is going to win big 12 south

and i dont know who's gonnna win the big 12 championship
either UT or KSU

My first year as a grad student here, I will take FSU in the ACC.

In the SEC, I would say Auburn. They will be very good and will probably be a preseason Top 5 team. Of course, I would prefer if LSU won the SEC though.

wow!

anyway, i think ohio state would win theirs.
miami win theirs
and florida win theirs.

ohio state is going to be awfully strong w/ clarett, but i dont think they'd pick a soph for the heisman.

it's going to be fun watchin what's going on in miami w/o their star qb, rb, and wide receiver.

but it's miami!

they always get it going.

You guys really do need to cut the Dude a little slack - he's right about the conference - and - it's really not his fault that Texas plays all of those teams that they can't beat. Now if you want to look at the roadmap to a national cchampionship for 2003:

2003 OU Football Schedule

Date-Opponent, Current Record

Aug. 30 - North Texas, 5-5

Sept. 6 - at Alabama, 8-2

Sept. 13 - Fresno State, 5-5

Sept. 20 - UCLA, 7-3

Sept. 27 - open

Oct. 4 - at Iowa State, 7-4

Oct. 11 - Texas (at Dallas), 9-1

Oct. 18 - Missouri, 4-6

Oct. 25 - at Colorado, 7-3

Nov. 1 - Oklahoma State, 4-5

Nov. 8 - Texas A&M, 6-4

Nov. 15 - Baylor, 3-7

Nov. 22 - at Texas Tech, 7-4

ND is not going to do well.

They are still going to have major problems with their offense. They lost Battle and Faine to mention a few. They won with smoke and mirrors last year and got exposed by the end of the year. They will lose a couple of the close games in this upcoming year.

OSU and Mich have got to watch out for Purdue. They almost beat both of them and have a lot of their players returning.

I still think Virginia will win the ACC. FSU and the Bowdens have huge problems and will have to watch themselves.

I am going to take back VT as winner of the Big East because Pitt is primed for it and Miami has to reload....which means they will lose a couple of games but have a shot to win it all. Vick will need a year but 2004 will be the year of the Vick..again..

Florida should be better this year since they are 1+ out of the Spurrier years. I still think that Tenn will win the league and LSU will win their division.

OU and Texas will battle for their division and KSU and Colorado will battle for theres. I think Neb is still a great recruiting class away or a new coach away from being great again.

Cinn will be very good this year. Lost a couple of players but they should do alright.

Marshall will not win it but they should have a decent year but I think that Miami of Ohio will win the conference and be the team next year to make a run at an undefeated season and scare the BCS and everyone..

I still think ASU will win the PAC-10 with UCLA and Washington having decent years.

Florida has no QB. LSU always finds a way to self-destruct. Tennessee is a BIG question mark. Auburn looks to be the deepest and the team with the most solid shot at the SEC.

yeah, sure hope reggie has something up his sleeve this yr like he had against OU.

hmmm.......... a freshman qb in his first game kicking the #1 team in the country's ass?? hmmm.........

but that wont happen against mack brown, he knows what reggie's got.

UT's got roy williams and cedrick benson coming back, the defense looks strong as ever and the question mark is at the qb spot.

hope chance mock can get the job done, otherwise it's up to vince young.

The big 12 is gonna be too good this year. There are just too many teams that have talent. In the north: Colorado, Nebraska, K-State, and Missouri are all potentially good. Iowa State will probably have a worse year and Kansas...well, it can't get worse than last year....losing to Baylor.
The north is even worse: Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Tech, and Okie State are all potentially good, although Tech is likely gonna slide without Kingsbury. Only Baylor will truly suck in the south.
I think OU will win this year. Their defense is gonna be even better than last year-they lost only 2 seniors.... All they were missing last year was coverage on the deep pass, and they'll easily figure that out. Sooners are going all the way this year

Would LOVE The Canes' to do it, cause it was too close last year, but I'll settle for a Major Bowl (Orange'll be nice ).

Couldn't say more, they don't give the NCAA Football much coverage where I am. I was sooo lucky the Championship game for 2001 was televised.

As far as the SEC goes, My congrats to Georgia last year. However, I think that the SEC east's days of owning the conference are over. The next few years will be dominated by LSU and Auburn. I would include Alabama but they have had too many problems and coaching snafu's

I think that LSU has the best chance this year.

Oklahoma's defence will be insanely good this year. All the offence has to put up is 16pts a game, and they will go undefeted, based on thier schedule. Hell the defense will prolly score 6 a game, so u only need 10 from the offence. Positive note on offence is that it returns mostly intact. only major question mark is at QB. Jason White is proven in the roll, but has 2 gimp knees. After White, there is a lack of experience, but a wealth of talent.

PAC-10: Univeristy of Washington

UW will easily place top 10 this year, will be Rosebowl champion, or hopefully win the entire BCS =]

Cody Pickett + Reggie Williams are litterally unstopable, Williams was litterally doubled every possession last year yet managed to have one of the best years in NCAA football history. They have solidified the defense this year, and the running game looked good durring spring. With only a few graduating seniors look for UW to be amazing this year.

look for them to turn head on their first game vs Oklahoma =]

Big Ten:

Ohio St.
Michigan
Purdue

Any three here could win it. Ohio has the best chance as long as their defence holds up. They did loose a good bit of talent there. Also Clarret is going to have to have a strong arm all year, if they want the national title again. Mich and Purdue are going to have good years, but I don't think good enough to beat out OSU. Unless the Buckeye majic was all used up last year.

Big 12

Well living in OK all I hear about is big 12. Well OU seems to have the best team but they are getting really good at choking. I doubt that they are going to be true national contenders. Colorado could very well step up and take the title. I like Texas though. I remember a few years ago looking at their team and seeing damn near all freshman thinking they are going to be a team to reckon with some day. the time may be now for the longhorns.

Pac 10:

Alot of good talent in this conference.
either oregan or UCLA Washington had its chance.

Big East.

Who else? Miami. I don't think they are going to have as good a year as last. Their best players are now playing on sundays. Not national contenders in my mind. They will probably go undefeated though, they don't really play anyone.

SEC:
I really have no idea, have not done a lot of research on who lost who and who is returning and what not, Florida has a good chance as usual. LSU may have a good year too.

Clarret will win the heisman if he is healthy all year. I don't care if he is young, he'll win it twice if he sticks around long enough.

Ohio st has as good a chance as anyone to win it all this year. Big Ten and 12 football will certainly be exciting this year, it will most likely be a team from one of these two conferences.

Like they always do!?

Tressle is 2-0 against Michigan, all but one offensive starter is coming back for OSU. The Safety and MLB positions are being filled by players who know how to play and will be ready for Michigan come November. So the defensive side of the ball is dominated by OSU.

I would like for you to elaborate on why you think Michigan has a chance against Michigan, and don't say because it's in Ann Arbor, because that doesn't matter.

College football... I can't wait!

What's with all the Virginia love in here? N.C. State is going to win the ACC. Rivers as the senior QB (UVA loses Schaub), a healthy T.A., and an improved defense and bam you've got it. Remember, this team smacked around ND in the Gator Bowl and will do the same to Ohio State when they meet first part of the season.

While I wouldn't mind seeing my Yellow Jackets win it, I've gotta be realistic.

Wraith are you talking basketball or football because we all know no one cares about football in Kentucky...

There are a number of reasons Michigan can beat OSU. Michigan lost last year but actually outplayed OSU. That is what makes good teams great by winning even when they are outplayed.

You mention that they lost some D. I remember the Michigan team after 97' and they only lost a couple of guys but made a huge difference. They might step up and they might not.

Michigan has about the same number of players back this year but actually gets a couple of their linebackers back, which could have made a difference in the OSU game last year with Maurice.

The fact that Maurice has a history of injuries should be a concern. Same can be said of the LB's at UM, so it basically comes down to who is healthier.

The final factor is that it is in The Big House and that should help Michigan a great deal. Say it does not matter but home field always matters..

That first part doesn't really make sense to me...If Michigan outplayed OSU and lost how does that make Michigan a better team? or are you saying that Ohio State is a better team?

Maurice doesn't have a history of injuries. He had a "stinger" last year in his one of his shoulders (can't remember which) but he still ran for 1200 yards! He missed half the season ran for that many yards and that should be a concern? He'll probably be fitted with some more padding on that shoulder until he feels comfortable running without. But I don't think the shoulder couuld be labeled a concern. All of the Offensive Line is returning so there isn't gonna be a shortage of holes he can run threw. It's basically how well will the passing game be this year to balance out the offense.

As for the LB's at UM I don't really know there condition, so I won't make a comment and look like an ass.
