That was unbelievably classless by Miami at the end of the game. Talk about losing your composure. Even one of the Miami coaches got into it. Instead of closing the book on their regular season win streak, they left a bad impression.
I felt if Berlin was picked more than once and was sloppy, Virgina Tech would prevail. Virginia Tech was the better all-around team tonite. |

no comment.... that wasnt the university of miami that went to blacksburg tonight.... i dont know who that was...
but, they were bound to lose sometime... my gut feeling was they would lose a game this year, but after beating FSU I really thought they would go undefeated.... Im actually taking the loss a little better than It thought i would, I helped that it was a blowout, It let reality sink in a bit while the game was still being played.... about the fighting, i dont think its classless, if so, then its classless on both teams cause Va tech was being just as dirty if not more than miami was.... so there was nothing disgraceful, if someone is gonna pick on me and kick me when im down you better believe im gonna come back swinging.... thats all that happened, thats why D'angelo hall was also ejected... you gotta take into account whats being said on the field, we dont hear it, but im sure it wasnt anything nice.... on a different note, my hats off to the hokies, There defense is pretty impressive, BUT miami's offense wasnt anything to write home about, i think a lot of that had to do with the play calling... shit man, what happend to all the deep balls? quick scores? what happend to the real canes offense??? maybe its berlin, maybe its cause we dont have a dominant RB, or maybe its the injury-plagued offensive line, whatever it is though, something is missing on offense.... well.... on a good note, they are still in it, they could be ranked #3 in the BCS, but we will see..... stranger things have happend... |

It was a real shame the way the Hurricanes acted at the end. They have neve had their asses handed to them that way. Larry Coker has done a good job at turning aroud the rep they had under Jimmy Johnson. I hope this doesn'carry over.
Of particular note is the Hokie Hall not playing next week will be significant.

AL9045 - I knew Miami's offense wasnt as good as they have been the last couple of years, but i thought that they were better then they showed last night.... i was wrong, we just dont have that quick strike attack as we did last year.... I still think the canes offense is good enough to win, but we have all seen what happens when they come out flat, they look like the miami dolphins offense.....
as for you Artemis - Yea, i'll take that, Im sure the canes were talking trash as they beat up on 39 opponents in a row (2nd best in college football history) Im sure they made them feel bad, and last night, while va tech beat the shit out of us, they were making us feel bad, does that make Va Tech a classless program? Im sure you think not, you are a typical hater cause you can take the success that miami has had "in the last 20 years, just dying to see this program fall (which it won't) you think miami has a CRAP classless program? (hands down the BEST football program in the last 20 years, not to mentions we've competed for 8 national championships and won 5 in that time) and what larry coker is a classless coach? (nominated for coach of the year this year) that fighting is just a couple of rivals going at it, trash talking and fighting back, is that really classless? give me a break man, your crazy.... you go look at ANY rivalry, and you tell me how respectable they are to each other, those teams HATE each other.... you know i dont have to justify anything to you.... i WILL keep rooting for the canes as i always have, I'm not crying cause we lost a game, we got our asses handed to us, but you tell me who the best team the last 4 years has been? so we lost a game, im sure we'll lose again, go ahead and enjoy talking your shit, its funny you say, cause your the one who seems classless, but im the one with the last laugh cause in a "down" year we are still one of the top teams in the nation.... take your shots now, cause they wont last long. |

This is a "down" year for Miami's standards(talent wise), and even with a loss still have the chance to remain #2 in the BCS(before you argue, you might want to have half a clue of how the BCS numbers work, Miami can still be #2, may the polls have mercy), and if they run the table, could be playing for the 3rd national championship in 3 years. Saying Miami sucks is just ignorant. Everyone knows Miami's offense is hardly what it has been in recent years, and the defense is still good, they just didn't get it done.
The trash talking is ridiculious. Why? I'm a Miami guy, and I don't really get what you gain except looking like a bunch of assholes with no self control or ability to realize you just got your asses handed to you. Grow up for christ sake. It's just being a poor loser. Actully, they people who need to grow up here are the lamers arguing about growing up. Take your insults and personal bashing elsewhere. =/ |

Most national champioships in 20 years and most felony convictions.
You are classless because you codone this fighting that went about. You hold your team to a high standard in the win and loss column but you have low standards when it comes to the people who represent your program. Funny how when Robert Reynolds did what he did to the Wisconsin QB that if you went to the fan sites the OSU fans were more disgusted by it then the Wisconsin fans. Lots wanted him kicked off for the year or min 3 game suspension. Fighting is not part of football. The only sport it is tolerated in is hockey and I do not remember football taking the NHL rule and putting it into their game. When V-Tech lost the week before to WVU did you see anyone causing a fight because they had just lost? I think OU has been as good as Miami the last 5 years but I do not see them having fights with OSU the last two years when they lost. BTW you are right Kurant I should not have made it personal with him but when you say such an asinine thing about fighting you need to be called out on it. If you read the other threads....I have been saying all along just because Miami lost does not mean that they are out of the Sugar Bowl picture. I think if they climb back up to #3 or 4...they will make it close because their SOS is much better than USC and FSU. Plus if FSU wins out Miami gets that -0.8, which could be the difference for them. Art |

whats asinine about what i said!? all i was saying is that it was equally the same amount of talking, pushing, and fighting, but YOU have to bash miami cause they are miami, not anyone else, if that was Notre Dame, or Oklahoma, or anyone else for that matter you WOULD NOT have called them out like that, thats what is bullshit...
I DONT NO ACCEPT FIGHTING, i just felt that if they are pushing us around why cant we fight back??? huh? that was my point i was trying to make... and now we are convicted felons....shit man, your perception is way distorted about Miami's football program, dont forget that this same program has Produced 26 SUCCESSFUL NFL football players in the last 3 years.... shit man, I know most people have been waiting a LONG time to "kick" miami when they are down, but dont classify them as classless.... Both teams were fighting and i didnt hear you calling out Va Tech thats all i gotta say |

The reason is because Miami is always fighting. If it was OU or ND it would be out of sorts for them. Miami has the perception...whether right or wrong they have it and this type of behavior is what people expect out of them. I think your view of Miami is equally if not more so distorted about the Miami program. So you are denying that Miami has not had a ton of problems over the years with player behavior on and off the field?
See all you care about is who you can produce or about winning not about having solid individuals in your program. I could have kicked them 4 or 5 years ago when they were "down". I do not see it is as kicking them when they are down...I have always disliked Miami and their "thug" attitude. Keep wearing those rose colored glasses...they look good on you. Art |

ignorant....
so you think miami picks they're players out of correctional facilities or something right? let me tell you ignorant, I want you to tell me any incidents where Miami players have been in trouble in the last few years, i can only tell you one or two, I can also tell you that there have been 1 or 2 in several other programs, what about Michigan St and Jeff smoker? so Michigan St has a bunch of Pot heads right? I havent heard of any Miami players busted for pot lately, or what about that Michigan Safety Marlin Jackson, suspended with a battery charge, I dont see any Canes players In jail right now... Distorted enough thats just two examples, i can keep going... What about in Oregon State, where on of their players some OT is facing all these drug charges? (again i dont see any canes players facing drug charges) In Texas, Cedric Benson was charge with a Misdemeanor this year....any miami players in trouble with the law, i dont think so... And to top it off i will leave you with a question, Who has been in trouble with the law more the past couple of years, Florida State or Miami? answer: Florida State, read the tabloids, or archives, they've had AT LEAST 4 players busted for different crimes just this year. Miami, I cant name you one player on this CURRENT miami team in trouble with the law.... but yea i guess this is a "thug" team rose glasses? what the hell is that? i dont even want to know... Ignorant, stop talking about shit you dont know about.... Last edited by SAM821; 11-02-2003 at 01:36 PM.. |

just so you dont bring it up, we probably had a bad rep in the past, but thats been history... Butch Davis cleaned up this program and Larry Coker has continued to make this a Respectable Program
Im not saying the older canes were all choir boys cause i know that there were a few incidents back in the day of us being in trouble, but for the last 5-7 years minimum I can assure you that this Miami program is far from "thug" as you call them.... that was in the past, get over it.... Miami is a great academic school, with great winning tradition, they are definitly not thugs... One more thing about the fighting, I played football for 7 years, and though again, I DO NOT THINK FIGHTING IS ACCEPTABLE, I do believe in sticking up for yourself and your teammates, and you dont back down from anyone.... Thats what i felt miami was doing, there was an EQUAL amount of pushing and shoving going around, yes it got heated, but neither team was gonna back down... I DO NOT think it was classless by either program, it just got a little heated in battle.. there was no dirty things going on, no "reynold-esque plays (like choking someone) or anything of that matter, just a little pushing and shoving.... so i think i made my point |
