Grady's Out
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1647772
I wish him luck, and hope he winds up somewhere he never has to make a decision under pressure again. |
I heard he was so distraught he went home and put a gun to his head.
He just doesn't know when to pull the trigger. -Mikey |
Mikey, that's not very nice. Even though it could very well be true.
|
Big mistake
|
leave grady alone - he did a great job but the bullpen sucked out loud - yeah - i am a faithful sox fan - he got what jimy got - no respect...
i wish him well... |
When Grady got home, the grass needed to be cut, but he couldnt get the lawn mower going. "He didnt know how to pull the Starter".
|
Yes, he choked in Game 7--no question about it.
However, he should be given a bit of credit for pulling that team together and coming within 6 outs of the World Series. The only major additions last year were David Ortiz, Kevin Millar, Bill Mueller, Scott Sauerbeck, B.H. Kim and Jeff Suppan......none of them are obvious blockbuster talents, yet they still won nearly 100 games. Unless they have someone great in reserve, I'm not sure if this is going to be a great move. |

Being an Astros fan I am not sure Jimy Williams deserved that much respect he sure as hell hasnt impressed me any. Sounds like Boston has been on both ends of the spectrum. Someone whos pulls them way to quick (williams) to someone who leaves them in a little to long (grady).
|
I think it was a bad move to let him go. He made a decision and it may or may not have been a bad one. There's no guarantee that pulling him would have won the game.
|
Yeah, no question Grady screwed up big by not pulling Pedro in the eighth, but here's my take:
If the vaunted hitting machine of the Sox (Garciaparra, Mueller, Millar, and even Damon) wouldn't have been something like 5 for 1,000 between them, it would have never have come down to the big decision. |
I believe Grady wanted Pedro to finish. Pedro is now a seven inning pitcher. Grady let his heart overrule his head. Now he is job hunting.
|
The Sox should not have let ONE decision influence it. I mean this isn't an ordinary pitcher, its Pedro martinez. Sure, he should have been pulled, but also it could have gone either way. Pedro supported him after the game also.

I would recommend that you all go onto Page 2 and ESPN.com and read The Sports Guy's columns during the playoffs, just so you can see how many times he used the words Grady Little and "What the &#@$ is he thinking!" in the same thought.
Also, go back and read the ones during the season for the same effect. |
