Nov. 1st -- Six Pack Saturday?!?

well, we've had Separation Saturday and Survival Saturday. so, with six marquee games... ahem... on tap... why not Six Pack Saturday???

Oklahoma State at Oklahoma
Miami at Virginia Tech
Michigan at Michigan State
Washington State at USC
Nebraska at Texas
Georgia vs. Florida

should be some fun games to watch!

oh i'm ready for the next weekend!

OU, Virginia Tech, USC, Texas , Florida (all home teams) will be victorious.

bond007 10-25-2003 08:39 PM

Florida-Georgia... the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party... is played every year in Jacksonville.

gov135 10-26-2003 08:19 AM

The World's Largest Cock_____ Party.

I think the game with the best potential is MJichigan/Michigan State. There should be some fireworks there!

Florida and Georgia loses some of its luster due to ugly performances by Florida early in the year, and Georgia's ugly outing yesterday.

Washington State and USC will get the hype, but only USC has a chance to win that game, in my opinion. Washington State falls into the twice beaten category.

Oklahoma State plays defense like a Pac-10 team. White secures the Heisman on a seven-touchdown day.

Obviously, Miami/Virginia Tech lost some of its luster with the beating Virginia Tech took. You can run on Miami, and Virginia Tech can run. If the Berlin throws more than one pick, I'll take Virginia Tech.

RoadRage 10-26-2003 10:02 AM

Oklahoma wants to kick the crap out of Oklahoma State so bad, especially after the last two years. I don't think Hybl understood the rivalry, and he lost twice for it. Oklahoma State held Texas A&M to 10 points, but that's like shutting out Baylor; a bunch of high-schoolers should be able to do that. Oklahoma by 30+.

Miami actually looked like a ranked team against Temple two weeks ago, much to my surprise. Virginia Tech did not look like a ranked team against West Virginia Wednesday night. Think Beamer lets his boys go out with their heads up their asses two games in a row? Think again. This one isn't a finesse game, this is a street fight. More injuries + penalties than points. Least turnovers wins.

Michigan-Michigan State is always a game worth seeing. Michigan State by 4.

Washington State @ Southern Cal. Winner plays in the Rose Bowl while dreaming of what might have been in the Sugar Bowl. Too close to call.

Nebraska @ Texas. The term "complete disrespect" comes to mind as Nebraska makes the Arkansas loss look like a win. Sure Texas HAD the #1 pass defense for a while, but Nebraska doesn't pass. Nebraska by 20+.

Georgia is overrated, Florida can't finish the game. If this didn't have a chance to throw the SEC East into complete disarray, I wouldn't even bother with it. A Florida win over Georgia puts both of them in a three-way tie with Tennessee at 4-2 in the conference and each 1-1 against the other two. If they all finish at 6-2, the tie-breaker is A CONFERENCE CALL VOTE BETWEEN THE EIGHT ATHLETIC DIRECTORS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED (ie. not including Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, or the SEC West Champion).

Don't look at me like that, I'm not shitting you. That's how they would resolve this 3-way tie. It's been waiting 12 years to happen, and it might just do that this time. See for yourself: http://www.secsports.com/index.php?w..._channel_id=40

The SEC Doomsday Scenario:

Florida beats Georgia on November 1
Georgia finishes the season beating Auburn and Kentucky
Florida finishes the season beating Vanderbilt and South Carolina
Tennessee finishes the season beating Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.

Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are all then 6-2 in conference, 1-1 in head-to-head (Tiebreaker #1), 4-1 in the East division (Tiebreaker #2), this is for first place (Tiebreaker #3), 2-1 against the West (Tiebreaker #4, redundant to #2 unless a game is cancelled), 0-0 against common West division foes (Tiebreaker #5, almost impossible to be anything other than 0-0 due to the schedule rotation), and 0-0 against any common SEC West foe (Tiebreaker #6, almost impossible for the same reason as #5).

Tiebreaker #7: Vote of the Athletics Directors whose institution is not involved in the tie.

This will be one VERY interesting Saturday.

*bump*

I'm ready!

This one is for you roadrage!

31-7! Texas by 20+ :D

Hook 'em Horns!

archer2371 11-01-2003 01:46 PM

Damn Dude, you're too fast, I so wanted to nail that to RoadRage. Here's an interesting stat:
Nebraska Rushing: 53 Yards
Texas Rushing: 335 Yards
Wow, Texas suddenly got a run defense.

gov135 11-01-2003 01:51 PM

Lay off RoadRage, guys, it takes balls to put your picks out there - and to give solid reasoning to back your pick up. Sometimes you are just wrong.

The Big12 is a bit of a disappointment this year. I mean, the North is now 0-8 against the South. The North is like I-AA ball compared to the South. Oklahoma will cruise through the championship game.

Cedric Benson looked like he took some kinda steroids. I havent seen him to something like that. We had 2 TD's that were called back due to bad calls. And add 3 turnovers by Texas and still such a big win. I dont know what mack brown said to those players, but it surely worked well.

Nebraska had the #2 defense coming into the game and the 4th best rushin offense in the nation.

talk about gettin shut DOWN.

The_Dude 11-01-2003 07:13 PM

looks like miami is goin to get killed by va tech. 24-zip now.

ToiletDuck 11-01-2003 07:56 PM

Was able to see OU play for the first time today while sitting at hooters, They look that good, i was amazed at the talent they have, congrats to UT beating Nebraska (love it when the corhuskers lose) and yes Notre Dame just plain sucks, good to see them get blanked for the 2nd time this season.

gov135 11-01-2003 08:39 PM

Georgia lost, and Miami lost, so does USC become the favorite to meet Oklahoma?

Ohio State did what Ohio State does. The defense held Penn State to 13 points.

As I'm typing this Arkansas/Kentucky is in the sixth OT. Wow.

bond007 11-01-2003 09:00 PM

as of now... the Sugar Bowl matchup looks like OU-USC.

and, Arkansas just beat Kentucky, 71-63, in 7 overtimes!!!

Artermis 11-01-2003 10:46 PM

Dont be too fast to count Miami out. I see them only sliding to #4 this week and if FSU loses to FLorida but stays in the top 10...Miami picks up a couple of % points off there and Miami has the better SOS. Playing Florida and FSU and Tenn for NC games really helps in the SOS department...especially since they all are going to win at least 8 games.

bond007 11-02-2003 06:58 AM

ironically, Miami's best chance to get to the Sugar Bowl hinges on Florida State. if FSU loses, Miami will lose most of their SOS bonus points (from the Quality Opponent Index).

bond007 11-02-2003 07:54 AM

upon further review... Miami dropped to #7 in the polls. so, they're gonna need more than a little help to make it to the Sugar Bowl.

RoadRage 11-02-2003 11:17 AM

Oops. I thought Nebraska was better than that. Oh well, merde occurs. At least it wasn't 65-13.

I'm still tired from working during The Game That Never Ends 3: Arkansas @ Kentucky. Who does Arkansas take to 6 OTs next year?
