crewsor 10-25-2003 07:45 PM

The Fish made my day. Nothing finer than a bunch of sulking loser Yankees after the final out of the final game.

AL9045 10-25-2003 07:47 PM

Let's see who's gone from the Yankees:

Torre: Probable.
Zimmer: Yup.
Clemens: Yup.
Wells: Probable.

ASNstunta 10-25-2003 09:06 PM

Someones really p'ed off in Yankee management!

Renegade 10-25-2003 09:09 PM

Hahaha! That was great! Shutout! Congrats to the Marlins! Boo hoo to the Yankers!

Kurant 10-25-2003 09:17 PM

Actully, it's 153 million for second.

And Beckett, well, what else is there to say, this guy pitches a shutout vs the cubs on 3 days rest, threw 55 pitches in game 7 on 2 days rest, pitched on 3 days rest again, and tonight, again on 3 days rest.

He's a stud. MVP for absolute sure.

SecretMethod70 10-26-2003 01:11 AM

Marlins? Oh, people watched the World Series?

/disgruntled Cubs fan ;)

Seriously though, the Marlins were a great team this year. I don't care if they were the wild card and the "underdogs" - they were the best team in baseball since McKeon came on, and they got what they deserved for that.....and so did the Yankees ;)

reconmike 10-26-2003 06:50 AM

Highest payroll in baseball $160 million

Hot dog and Beer in the Bronx $20 dollars

A quiet Yankee stadiun....priceless

Now I know how Cubs and Red Sox fans feel.

The Yankees actually outscored the Marlins 21-17 in the series. But when it counted, they didn't produce. They never recovered physicaly and emotionally from the REAL World Series, the ALCS. They left their bats in Boston and a total of 91 men on base. The fish were supposed to be dessert, instead they were janitors, mopping up what was left of the Yanks.

I am truly pissed about one thing. Had the Yankees won the series in Miami they would have treated Pro Player stadium with a bit more respect though, even though a 10 year old FOOTBALL stadium is definitely not Yankee Stadium. Jeffrey Loria, the man who destroyed baseball in Montreal, running the bases? Marlins ripping up pieces of the infield grass? Beckett chugging a 40 at home plate? Pierre and Pudge taking pictures with the monuments like they were pictures of Saddam in Baghdad? That's what hurts the most, not so much the series loss. For that, the Marlins will deserve what's coming to them, which is a last place division finish next year. Well, they might finish ahead of the Mets. But not by much.

Yankee Stadium is not the Parthenon. Its a damn building. Yankee fans are always boo hooing about the STADIUM. And they always call it that. The STADIUM. Whatever.

Averett 10-26-2003 07:35 AM

Oh, in case I wasn't very clear....

Yankee Stadium is not any more special than any other stadium out there. I don't care who played there.

I'll be waiting for the goons to come and wack me now :D

gov135 10-26-2003 08:24 AM

The Yankees lost the World Series because they were:
1. Outplayed defensively. This cannot be understated, they were really outplayed defensively.
2. The second best baserunning team. The Marlins brought speed and used it.
3. Their pitching was effort was matched.

So often, baseball celebrates the home run. It's nice to see a series where a team is given credit for just doing the little things better: defense and baserunning made the difference.

That sounds like the words of a disgruntled fan whose team has been waiting for a chance to win the world series...

Thats stupid, How can you bash the Marlins for CELEBRATING! who cares if the are picking away the infield for memories, or running around the bases, or drinking anything on home plate...Who gives a shit, THEY DESERVE IT! it wasnt tasteless, it was a YOUNG team celebrating for winning something that most players will never get an opportunity to.

Shit man, its not like they were pissing on the field, or flicking off the fans... they were celebrating, i dont see what the hell is the big deal.... And they deserve whats coming to them? do you really think loria is gonna sell off the team or something? I know he wont, Huizenga told south florida he was going to, well before the marlins were even in the playoffs in 97. Loria will keep most of this team together and, dont worry, they will be competing again next year....

all i gotta say is

the marlins have been around for 11 years and have won 2 championships.... let them bask in the glory... they deserve it

Dr.Who 10-26-2003 09:31 AM

Jeffrey Loria, the man who helped destroyed baseball in my city of Montreal, who had run away with all the scouting infos, personnal papers of the Expos, that same man who don't give a hell about how fans thinks, just won it all.

Makes me wanna puke. But I'll give credit to the players of the Marlins, they played with heart and passion.
Only the Yankees could beat themself, they did with a little help of Beckett last night.

Shpoop 10-26-2003 06:19 PM

someone FAILED to mention yankee players who will be gone next year and aron boone in the same sentence?!?

crewsor 10-26-2003 07:01 PM

Yeah, it was terrible the way those Marlins celebrated winning the series in Yankee stadium. They should have shown the proper respect and waited utill they got home to celebrate.(sarcasm)

I wouldn't be too certain that players who couldn't controll themselves enough not to assault personell in Boston would be the model of decorum upon winning the series either, regardless of the location.

Personally, that was the best part of the post season for me. To watch the Yankees humbled at home, and see a young excited team celebrate victory in the Yankees house.:D

My thoughts exactly!!

quest1mark 10-27-2003 06:19 AM

im glad the fish won, but i really hope this isnt history repeating itself....

were probably going to lose pudge because of his salary, let go of mike lowell, castillo, and most likely urbina.

but if the ownership is truly intent of keeping the rest of the team, i think well be in shape to be a contender again next year.

captain 10-27-2003 06:27 AM

Josh Beckett is a horse. Big, strong and able to pitch a complete game on threedays rest--just like the old days of Bob Gibson and Warren Spahn!!

I agree. The Braves are going to lose a ton of players. Which will just kill me :( The Mets will be shit, the Phillies won't do anything either. Oh, there's another team in the East? The Ex-whos?

petergriffin24 10-27-2003 07:34 AM

I have never been happier than to see them beat on their own turf it was great and I could watch that every year!!

BigDonkey2 10-27-2003 11:50 AM

FUCK YA!!!! GO MARLINS!!!!! FUCK THE YANKEES!!!!!

lions20 10-27-2003 01:40 PM

Thank god for the Marlins beating the Yanks. I can rest in peace until next baseball season.

jmf1234 10-27-2003 07:51 PM

They have half the Yankees payroll how great is that?
