Tuesday Morning Quarterback?
Greg Easterbrook wrote a column called Tuesday Morning Quarterback (affectionately known as TMQ) for ESPN.com. I used to read it every week. He was fired from ESPN after making some allegedly anti-semitic statements on another website. There's already a thread on this in the Politics forum, but it has become, and properly so, a discussion of those statements.
TMQ had some of the best in depth football commentary I had ever seen, and alot of humor too. He would talk about what teams did inside the red zone or why teams would end up with third and long so often, and I would watch for it the next week. He would comment on cheerleaders -(cheerbabes), Maurice Clarrett vs the NFL and the NFL vs. the NBA, and throw in random but funny social and cultural commentary and football haikus too. I wanted to start a thread and poll in Sports to see if anyone else had read TMQ, or if I was just a geek, what ya'll thought about it, and for us to lament it's passing. ESPN has removed all refrences to it on their website, so the archives are unavailable. |
I think I may have read that column once or twice. I did not know he had gotten in trouble or that it had ended. I will have to go read the other thread.

Yeah, I thought he was hilarious and spot-on with his comments.
/me hopes to see a www.tuesdaymorningqb.com someday :( |
I wondered where his column was yesterday. This is a tragedy for me. I looked forward to his columns every week. His was the best work on all of Page 2.

Who do I email, because I would really like to rip ESPN a bunch of new ones. He was the second best feature on there (behind the Sports Guy, of course).

Totally agree. I always liked reading through TMQ at work. Its a shame that something done totally seperate from ESPN could get him fired. He was on slate.com before espn so I hope that they take him back.

No I never had the opportunity to read it but I would've liked to. Hmm that's a shame oh well I'm sure it'll be back in some way shape or form!!
|
Damn, I was wondering what happened. First no more Weekend Water Cooler and then TMQ disappears. Those were my 2 favorite articles every week. It was always good reading material for when it got slow at work.

Still miss it.
Anyone hear if the column will continue somewhere else? |
