Interesting Facts for White Sox fans...
Now, don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to say the Cubs don't have a poor history. I'm not trying to say the Cubs are BETTER than the White Sox. And I'm not just upset at the Cubs recent loss. I simply got curious and looked at some records and thought it was quite interesting the animosity that White Sox fans have towards the Cubs considering the similarities of their postseason numbers and such.
Last Sox World Series win: 1917 Last Cubs World Series Win: 1908 Last Sox World Series appearance: 1959 Last Cubs World Series Appearance: 1945 Sox postseason appearances past 5 years: 1 Cubs postseason appearances past 5 years: 2 Total Sox postseason appearances: 7 Total Cubs postseason appearances: 13 Total Sox World Series appearances: 4 Total Cubs World Series Appearances: 10 Now, Cardinals fans? They have a basis for making fun of the Cubs - they've won the World Series the most of any NL team and second most overall. I just don't get how White Sox fans could have any place to say anything about the Cubs sucking as much as they do with a history like that ;) (p.s. how bout them team colors? :) :p) |
Don't forget the "Black Sox" scandal. Want some revisionist history? The White Sox were the strongest team in baseball at the time of the World Series that they were paid to throw. If the Sox don't throw that series, when Babe Ruth gets into his contract dispute with Red Sox owner, he asks to be sold to the White Sox, instead of the Yankees. The World Champion White Sox now add Ruth to their rotation and outfield, and well... the rest is up to your imagination... the White Sox go on to dominate baseball for the next 80 years instead of the Yankees.
Meanwhile in this alternate universe, the Cubs STILL don't win a World Series. -Mikey |
