SEC is the best sports conference
Is there really any argument against the SEC being the best overall conference in the NCAA?
(Of course there is, but just putting a little fuel on the fire!) |

right.....
i guess u havent heard of the BIG XII hmm....2 out of the final four teams last year from where? we all know about big xii football. conference play has lowered the rankings of teh schools, but if i remember right, 3 out of the top 5 teams in the beginning of the year were from the big 12. |
7 of the 11 teams in the BIG TEN are ranked in the top 25 poll. I believe that ties some sort of record.

if u look @ the last year end's basketball rankings, big 10 had 2 teams ranked. |
ACC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEC is not the best all around confernce...that would be the PAC10.
SEC is a great football and basketball confernce with some good track programs. Big Ten is a great football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, swimming and wrestling. Big 12 is a great football, basketball, wrestling and baseball confernce. ACC is a great basketball and soccer confernce (football is missing a couple of teams). Big East is a great basketball confernce. PAC10 is a great football, basketball, softball, baseball, track, volleyball and all other water sports. The other conferences are just good except for Rice who won the NCAA baseball last year. PAC10 is the best all around sports confernce. Art |
This is from the director's cup 2002-2003
1. Stanford (Cal.) 1420.5 (PAC10) 2. Texas 1094 (BigXII) 3. Ohio State 1074.75 (Big Ten) 4. Michigan 1034.25 (Big Ten) 5. Penn State 993 (Big Ten) 6. California-Los Angeles 943.75 (PAC10) 7. Dude while you overstate how good the Big XII is again by coming in 5th at least your Texas has the 2nd best all around program..:) Art |
I know how the director's cup tallies up points.
they look through every single sport that the university plays. stanford prolly plays like a shitload of sports that UT doesnt play. i was just referring to the major sports (football, basketball (both mens and womens, baseball) that's about all that gets any kind of tv coverage. UT's sports are FOOTBALL M BASKETBALL W BASKETBALL BASEBALL SOCCER VOLLEYBALL SOFTBALL SWIMMING/DIVING TRACK & FIELD/XC TENNIS GOLF ROWING (all i could find on texassports.com) Stanford on the other hand has Baseball (650) 723-4528 Basketball - Men (650) 723-0562 Basketball - Women (650) 723-0284 Crew - Women (650) 725-0749 Crew - Women Lightweight (650) 724-2452 Crew - Men (650) 725-0748 Cross Country - Men & Women (650) 723-2736 Diving - Men & Women (650) 723-9159 Fencing - Men & Women (650) 725-3587 Field Hockey (650) 725-0751 Football (650) 723-4511 Golf - Men (650) 323-0939 Golf - Women (650) 323-0938 Gymnastics - Men (650) 723-9591 Gymnastics - Women (650) 725-6143 Lacrosse - Women (650) 725-1994 Sailing (650) 723-2811 Soccer - Men (650) 723-9375 Soccer - Women (650) 725-9884 Softball (650) 725-0736 Swimming - Men (650) 723-4416 Swimming - Women (650) 736-0923 Synchronized Swimming (650) 725-0128 Tennis - Men (650) 723-1160 Tennis - Women (650) 723-9540 Track & Field - Men & Women (650) 723-2736 Volleyball - Men (650) 725-0763 Volleyball - Women (650) 723-1997 Water Polo - Men (650) 723-1874 Water Polo - Women (650) 725-9016 Wrestling (650) 723-9486 I'm sorry, but a water polo championship should in no way be equal to a football/baseball national championship. |
I love all you Texans. I never knew a good Texan who did not also own a full-sized Texas flag and display it proudly in his or her living room.
|
why not dude? Just because one has more exposure than the other does not make it any less competitive.
I think that the reason you only find those on the site is because them are the only ones they are any good at...well they should be taking football off at anytime...:) Art |
If you look at sports OVERALL, there is not doubt that the PAC 10 is the strongest as was clearly pointed out by Art. Thank you sir.

ACC... wait till Miami, V-Tech, and BC get there
|
The problem is that Texas only plays sports it can compete in. Notice how most the sports that they do compete in they are good or very good. They do not compete in programs that they cannot so they shut it down and then have fans who whine that it is unfair because they do not compete in everything.

I dont think we have room for anymore facilities here. The campus is in downtown austin with no more room to expand. i dont think it's just texas that doesnt field many of these teams.
even if, you cant be good if you dont have a team. the philosophy here is to buy championships (sad isnt it? just like the yankees). UT spends a lot of $$ on coaches and i'm sure that they can make a team better by shelling out more $$. |
Can you imagine the ACC in two years?
Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, NC State, Maryland in football. Plus Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Boston College, Wake Forest, Maryland in basketball. The scales are starting to tip east... |
