Ouch...Cub Fans...
How things can change in an inning...
|
As soon as Alou reacted to the dork with the headphones messing up his catch, I told my wife "It's all over... book the Marlins on a flight to New York."
It was actually heartbreaking to watch. A new chapter in futility. And to think people don't believe in the curses that plague the Cubs and Sox. -Mikey |
fuck the marlins....im gunna be really pissed if the series is Marlins Yankees.....really pissed
|
Absolutley, like I said, security had better escort that guy to his car. If they don't - someone might kill him.
I said the exact same thing. Fan gets in the way. Lee fouls another one off. Base hit. I told my wife, that's it. We're going to 7. Although, you can't throw blame out at a ball that's in the stands, and is fair game for who's ever sitting there, you still have to throw pitches. Unbelievable. I probably have never been so pissed off in my life. |
This truly sucks. I do not want to see a Yankees & Marlins series.
Someone do something quick please. |
What is it called now?
The Curse of the Dipshit Fan The Curse of Bernie Mac Speaking of Bernie Mac, when he was calling the Cubs 'champs' while singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, I looked at my roommate and said, it's over. He jinxed the Cubs like no other. Let's hope the Cubs can recover. Will Kerry Wood go tomorrow? |
Yes, wood goes tomarrow.
|
Tonight they looked like the Cubs that I grew up with. Aww, the memories....
|
Yes, this is great. I say, let traditions continue and let the reign of the curses that haunt the red sox and the cubs continue. Bring the marlins and the yankees to the world series so that the curses of the red sox and cubs will continue to bring them bad fortune . . . . . . . forever.
|
At first i was screaming to get that fan out - now that I think about it, its too bad - the breaks just weren't going the way for the Cubs.
Hopefully though this will give fire back to the bats of the Cubs and they'll win it. But nothing is for sure anyways. |
I know it's a bad situation with the Cubs and the fuckwit taking the ball away from Alou, but I love this quote that came out of it:
"They don't go to school," Alou said, "to be taught what balls not to touch." LOL |

http://msn.espn.go.com/i/media/mlb/2.../g_fan_tpi.jpg That's what happens when you have an open playing surface - it's part of the game. The guy most likley feels like shit as it is (considering that he's a Cubs fan) - he knows that what he did had changed the momentum of the game. No point in name calling now. |
Its hard not to blame him for trying to catch the ball, however I'm sure that any Cub fan sitting where he was would have done the same thing. I doubt if he could see Alou jumping for the ball. His eyes were following the arc of the ball. In the above picture not one fan int he stands is looking at Alou or even his mit.
Regardless of what happened, I sure feel miserable this morning. |

Knowing the Cubs, they'll probably have him throw out the first ball next year, as a "no hard feelings" type of thing. -Mikey |
do they still play the blues in chicago when baseball season rolls around?
in a word, yes. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/poetry/cubs.ram |
the guy should move to Florida!!!
http://images.sportsline.com/u/photo...img6721437.jpg of all the things to happen to the Cubs - this one is epic!!! |
Evidently, the drunkards don't have too much faith in Kerry Wood.
"You cost us the World Series!" Telling isn't it? I'm a White Sox fan, but I cheer for any Chicago team that has a chance. I really thought the Cubs would do it this year. I'm hoping Mr. Wood is VERY hard tonight. ;) |

I have high hopes that Kerry Wood and the Cubs will come through tonight. Statistically though, the odds are against us :( Of the 4 teams that have come back from a 3-1 series to force a game 7, THREE have won the series :( That guy better hope that I don't see him on the streets.
A little levity at least: http://www.whichwayup.org/wanted.html |

your shitting me right as a life long cubs fan i tell you the cubs define the fine art of choking that said i would say the redsoxs have more fluke plays in there post season history |
Im not a true Cubs fan, but a National League fan and I do not want the Florada/NY series so the Cubbies better suck it up like they are paid to do and come back tonight. Woods is on the mound and I really like the Cubs chances. It was not even the fans fault for the lose, he might have taken some momentum away, but Alex Conzalez booting the easy double play ball is more at fault. Make the play, inning over, and the Cubs are in the series. If they can beat Atlanta, in Atlanta, in game 5, they can and should win tonight.
After tonight, the moron fan will be able to sleep at night and walk down the street, he hopes.... |
Meet Steve Bartman. He's the poor 26-year-old Chicago Cubs fan who last night got his hands on that foul ball headed for outfielder Moises Alou's mitt. Bartman, who attended the University of Notre Dame, works for a Chicago-area consulting firm and serves as coach for a local youth baseball program. We wanted to speak with Bartman about last night's incident, but he did not return messages left on his office voicemail. And when we dialed Bartman up at his apartment--about three miles from Wrigley Field--we got a recorded message saying that his number had been disconnected. Which is probably not a bad idea.
